Black Lantern Collective Unveils Four Steam Next Fest Demos

Published

on

Black Lantern Collective is starting the year off strong, announcing four of its upcoming titles having received demos for Steam Next Fest. Available now until March 2, whether you’re in the mood for cooking, fishing, surgery, or dating, the team has you covered.

HMS Studios and NerveLabs actually made their demo for their take on Surgeon Simulator in Angel Engine available last week, but just in case you missed it, the game is based on the analog horror web series by The Unearthly Guy. The game explores a missing chapter of the series of the same name. Set in a dystopian future where heaven has been ransacked, a crew of scientists makes their best effort to save the human race from damnation.

Angel Engine will launch on Steam later this Spring.

Also coming to Steam this Spring is Eduardo Scarpato‘s Don’t Let It Starve, a cooking-themed puzzle game, that has you prepping meals to feed a half-chef monster lurking in the vents. Arrange foods of various shapes and sizes to fill every nook and cranny of each bento box, racking up combos and synergies to satiate your captor’s hunger. Produce the most delicious meals with over 120 unique items to experiment with, and keep things fresh to ensure you’re not the next item on the menu.

Revealed last December, Liquid Squid‘s Mourning Tide is a fishing horror game that rewards your skill and evolve as you progress. You are the fisherman, adrift for time unknown in a place where the bustle of port is but a distant memory. Out here it’s just you, the fish, and your memories. Cast your line, and wait for a bite. But this place is not as it seems. And the tides never forget. Each fish behaves differently and requires quick thinking to overcome. As you fish, you’ll unravel a tragic tale of guilt and loss, where the past is never far behind and the sea holds secrets that may never let you go.

The full version of Mourning Tide will launch on Steam on April 30.

Fans of Akabaka’s Sucker for Love series can now get their hands on the demo for the next entry in the series in Sucker for Love: Crush Landing. Coming to Steam this Spring, the Lovecraftian dating series has you encountering a sentient, shapeshifting comet named Hheily, who has crashed into your apartment. As a result, you’re drawn into an interplanetary conflict between light and dark. You’ll solve colorful puzzles on your way to bringing Hheily back to full strength… and maybe even win a smooch in the process.

LKA Delves Deeper Into the Horror of ‘When Sirens Fall Silent’ in New Presentation [Video]

During the Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition, publisher Wired Productions and developer LKA released a three-minute developer presentation for psychological horror game When Sirens Fall Silent, offering players a deeper look into the mystery, characters, and unsettling world of the upcoming psychological thriller.

Following two creative story-based cinematic reveals (which you can watch here and here) that introduced the game’s atmosphere, themes, and central mystery, LKA Founder and Director Luca Dalcò guides viewers further into the world of the forgotten people, revealing more of what awaits players as they uncover the truth behind a series of kidnappings and murders.

From the creators of Martha is Dead, When Sirens Fall Silent casts players as Mila, a policewoman in early 1990s Rome, Italy. Haunted by a past she’s desperate to escape, Mila is thrust into a high-profile case of kidnappings and murders. As the investigation unravels, you must not only save her from herself, but also from being consumed by the violence, mystery and confusion.

Featuring a branching, multi-layered narrative dialogue system, with a huge focus on verbal and emotional interaction, investigation and subsequent choices, players will be faced with difficult real-world topics. LKA aims to “pull no punches” with its story, but also hints at a few surprises along the way.

When Sirens Fall Silent is currently in development for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
