‘Hotel Barcelona’ Receives “Major Overhaul” with “Under New Management” Update [Trailer]

Published

on

After the rough launch of Hotel Barcelona last October, White Owls Inc. and CULT Games have sought to remedy things with the new Under New Management Update for the game, which is available now. The free update adds new content and significantly alters gameplay, including the multiplayer, Quality-of-Life improvements and performance, combat and more.

Touted as a “structural refinement of the player experience,” the update had increased Justine’s movement speed, shortened recovery in combat, and reworked the parry system. Weapon balancing has also been tweaked, along with enemy HP, attack ranges, and reaction timing.

As for the game’s Invasion mechanic for multiplayer, the devs have now reduced the imbalance caused by player progression differences, as well as improved parry reactions between players. Doppelgängers can no longer invade during boss fights, and no longer interfere with enemies or environmental systems.

For the new content, there are now cameos from indie titles Demonschool, Slitterhead, and Promise Mascot Agency in the form of five new playable skins, which are free for all players.

In Hotel Barcelona, rookie U.S. Marshal Justine is lured into a labyrinthine hotel where America’s worst serial killers roam free.Justine must embrace her her split personality, Dr.
Carnival, and slaughter her way through a bizarro vacation complex inspired by classic horror movie subgenres and try to escape with answers.

Hotel Barcelona is available physically on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, or digitally via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series.

The two will have to work together to survive in a dangerous world full of delusions.
