Psychological Horror Title ‘Birds Watching’ Out Now on Steam [Trailer]

Published

on

If you enjoyed the atmospheric horror of developer Studio Ortica’s Loan Shark, the team has something more for you with their latest title, Birds Watching. Out now on Steam, this short horror experience takes post-apocalyptic isolation and mashes it with the peaceful past-time of bird watching. Only, as you might expect, you’re not quite alone.

As mentioned, Birds Watching takes place after an endless global fire has destroyed the world, leaving you the last human being on earth. Luckily for you, the only place still untouched by the flames is at the top of a mountain, where you currently reside. The only thing to occupy your time is to watch with your binoculars the wild birds that have escaped up there with you.

Your peaceful, isolated, desperate life is interrupted by something, leaving you not alone anymore, but also threatened. The only ones who can save you are the birds. However, they are picky. You’ll need to satisfy them, or lose everything. Be honest. Be ruthless. Be careful.

If you’re the type to try the demo before you buy, you can do so now. As further incentive, Birds Watching is available now with a limited-time 10% discount until March 13.

Konami and co-developers Evil Empire and Motion Twin have finally revealed more info on the upcoming Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, including a release date of October 15 release date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The Nintendo Switch version will arrive “later in 2026.”

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be available in two versions: Standard and the Midnight Edition. Pre-orders are live now, sans Switch. The Midnight Edition includes:

  • A copy of the game
  • Digital Sound and Art Gallery, featuring over 100 illustrations, including concept art and sketches
  • Bonus in-game items:
    • Trevor costume
    • Sypha costume
    •  Family’s Grace (Relic)

Pre-ordering either edition will earn players an Alucard costume.

Taking place in Paris, 1499, Belmont’s Curse will see Trevor Belmont’s and his daughter, Rose Belmont (as opposed to what Sony initially “revealed”), take on Dracula’s foes.

Paris is engulfed in flames as monstrous creatures suddenly emerge from the shadows. Trevor Belmont, the hero who defeated Dracula, ventures into the burning streets with his daughter, Rose Belmont. Armed with the legendary holy whip, the Vampire Killer, they hunt down the beasts bleeding from the looming castle. Rose is soon swept up in the dark conspiracy that lurks beneath. Will she succeed in saving Paris from devastation?

In addition to the Vampire Killer, Rose will have access to the Arcana System. After defeating bosses, including the likes of Medusa, Carmilla and Joan of Arc (?!), the bosses are sealed into Rose’s tarot cards, turning them into Arcana. Players can then use the bosses’ skills to cast spells and obtain unique special actions.

Players will also be able to customize Rose’s battle style by using a variety of equipment, including weapons spanning seven distinct categories and Relics that trigger powerful effects through both offense and defense.
