“Open House” Update Now Available for ‘FBC: Firebreak’

Published

on

Remedy Interactive has released a final major update for FBC: Firebreak in “Open House”. The update also adds five new arenas inspired by locations from Control to the Endless Shift mode: Cafeteria, Aircon Room, Ranger HQ, Turntable, and Ritual Lobby. In addition, there are also a wide range of gameplay and balance improvements aimed at making combat “clearer, smoother, and more flexible.”

The Open House update also introduces Friend’s Pass, allowing players who own FBC: Firebreak to invite up to two friends to join their sessions for free using a special version of the game (listed as “Free Trial” on console storefronts).  Friend’s Pass players can experience the full game alongside the host player, though they cannot start new sessions or create their own lobbies. Friend’s Pass works across platforms and allows players to bring friends into the game with a simple invite or party code.

Lastly, in order to make the game more accessible to new players, Remedy has permanently lowering the price of FBC: Firebreak. That’s also in conjunction with a 20% discount on Steam that’s available until March 31.

Sadly, Open House will be the last major content update for FBC: Firebreak. However, the game will remain online and fully playable.

FBC: Firebreak was built by a team fueled by passion and experimentation. That spirit shaped the game, but the moments that brought it to life were the ones that players created together,” says FBC: Firebreak Game Director Mike Kayatta.

“We want to make sure those moments can continue for the players who are already here, and for anyone else looking for a high-energy, low-pressure game night with friends. That’s why the relay servers are staying up, the price is going down, and a Friend’s Pass is going in. From all of us on the team, thank you for your own passion and experimentation, and we’ll see you in there.”

In addition to Steam, FBC: Firebreak is available on the Epic Games StoreXbox Series, and PlayStation 5.

‘Resident Evil Requiem’ Surpasses 8 Million Units Sold; ‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake Now Highest-Selling in Franchise

Capcom once again updated fans on their sales figures via their new quarterly report. And to no one’s surprise, Resident Evil Requiem continues to rake in the sales, having now crossed the 8 million units sold mark across the Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and Epic Games StorePlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. This all comes after the game reached 7 million units sold just three months ago.

In even bigger news, Resident Evil 5, which has sold just over 19 million across various incarnations, is no longer the best selling entry in the series. That title now belongs to 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, which has now moved 19.75 million copies across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

It gets only more crowded when you look at the numbers of other entries: Resident Evil 7: biohazard currently sits at 18.41 million, while Resident Evil 6 has hit 17.60 million units. 2023’s Resident Evil 4 remake isn’t far behind with 16.04 million, while Resident Evil Village is at 15.86 million units. And while it’s considered a “miss” compared to the other remakes, 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake is still at a respectable 14.52 million units.

Devil May Cry V, which was already the highest-selling entry in the franchise, has apparently seen a boost in sales thanks to the second season of the Netflix series and last month’s launch on the Switch 2, having now hit 14. 24 million units.

Meanwhile, we can look forward to Zach Cregger‘s violent take on the franchise with his Resident Evil film, which is set for a September 16 release.
