Studio Ellipsis is still hard at work on their upcoming co-op horror title Nightholme, but have taken a break to drop a new gameplay overview trailer. Narrated by Alex Amancio (creative director on Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Revelations), the video provides players with a taste of the “dual stealth and action gameplay,” along with demonstrating how to summon and slay the Gloomfiend in order to grab those precious Terror Seeds to give you the extra edge in successive matches.
Playing as a Grimrunner, you’ll initially start with three archetypes to choose from, with each having their own specific abilities: Seer, Nameless and Voorbeast. After choosing your archetype, you’ll descend upon the city, joining eleven other Grimrunners. You goal can vary: Do you hunt the Gloomfiend, or do you complete other quests? Or do you scavenge and stalk other players, sabotaging their plans and taking what they’ve earned. The choice is yours. Aiding
Currently in development for release on Steam, Nightholme is set in a corrupted fantasy world infested by Gloom. You are a member of a three-player team that hunts, transforms into deadly horrific creatures, and fights to prevail against other teams and the environment. Players will level up their Grimrunner’s abilities, defeat Gloomfiend bosses to earn permanent upgrades for future sessions via the Terror Seeds, and outsmart competing teams competing for the same prize.
