Casting Call for Kojima’s ‘Physint’ Reveals “Mads Mikkelsen”-like Villain

With Death Stranding 2: On the Beach now out in the wild, Kojima Productions has turned to working on their 2024-announced action-espionage title Physint. And in true Hideo Kojima style, the cast (which currently features  Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe) is expected to be loaded with Hollywood talent. Per MP1st, while details about the game remain under wraps, new casting call details reveal what Kojima has mind for the game.

According to the site, Physint is being developed under the codename of “Shimmer.” As well, Kojima will be enlisting the help of Mari Ueda as the casting director. Ueda is the founder of the motion capture company Pivot Motion, which Kojima enlisted for work on Death Stranding 2. Motion capture for Physint is expected to begin this June.

Regarding the casting calls, they’re looking to fill roles for multiple passengers on a hijacked bus. While most of the cast requirements (a mother with newborn, for example) are not earth-shattering, one of the calls is for an “antagonistic character with a German accent,” with the role described as “Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal’ but with flair.”

This character is further described as having a slim complexion and a quiet personality, but “intense” and “confident in a psychotic way.”

That’s about as far as the casting goes, but definitely does pique one’s interest as to what Kojima is looking for in his return to the stealth action genre. That being said, it will probably be a while before we hear more about Physint, seeing as Kojima is focused on his horror game in OD. That one stars Sophia Lillis, alongside the late Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer.
