Hardcore Mode Comes to ‘The Midnight Walkers’ ahead of Free Play Weekend Event [Trailer]

Out now in Early Access, Oneway Ticket Studios’ zombie shooter The Midnight Walkers is not only getting a huge update, but for those looking to try before you buy, you can check out the game for free next weekend. Among the additions/changes, the PvE now has a Hardcore Mode, and improvements to the overall gameplay feel.

The new Hardcore Mode is accessible to players who have reached a gear score of 1,000 or higher and a character level of 15 or above, with drop rates for higher-tier items adjusted upward to match the increased difficulty. As well, a new tutorial and Training Ground have also been introduced to help new players. The tutorial runs immediately after character creation, designed to help players easily learn the basic flow of the game.

The update also includes a new daily mission system, a complete crafting bench overhaul, combat and class balance adjustments, and level design improvements for select areas.

And as mentioned, players will have a free weekend event for approximately four days, kicking off on May 8. During this period, players can freely access all in-game content at no cost, and any character data created during the event will carry over into the full game.

“This update broadly reflects the feedback shared by our players since Early Access launched,” says game director Ray Song. “We’ve prepared content that both new and returning users can enjoy, so we hope everyone takes the opportunity to experience the game without any commitment during the Free Weekend.”

Building on this update and the free weekend event, The Midnight Walkers will continue to evolve through ongoing community engagement on Discord, with the full release on Steam planned to release within the next twelve months.
