‘METRO 2033’ and ‘METRO: Last Light Complete Edition’ Added to GOG Preservation Program

With METRO 2039 on the way later this year, 4A-Games has teamed up with GOG to bring fans a DRM-free experience for two previous entries in the series. To celebrate the METRO Franchise and the anniversary of the original launch of METRO: Last Light, the original versions of METRO 2033 and METRO: Last Light Complete Edition have now been made available as part of the GOG Preservation Program, with an added bonus of a 70% discount until May 28.

As expected with the program, both games are playable today on modern systems with several optimisations. Among them are optimised framerates, unlocked resolutions, and added modern controller support.

Here’s a breakdown of the full list of improvements for METRO 2033 (2010 version) and METRO: Last Light Complete Edition (2013 version):

  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11
  • Added support for modern controllers (including Sony DualSense / DualShock 4, Microsoft Xbox Series / Xbox One / Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch 2 Pro / Switch Pro, Logitech F, Amazon Luna) with optimal button binding, hotplugging and wireless mode)
  • Increased the maximum number of supported resolutions
  • Implemented new high-resolution framerate limiter
  • Implemented vertical synchronisation for fluid and tear-free experience
  • Optimised default game settings

METRO 2033 Redux and METRO: Last Light Redux, the remastered versions of the original titles, remain available on PC and console platforms. Meanwhile, look for METRO 2039 this winter for the Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
