‘SOMBRAS: negative frames’ Launches December 3; Physical PS5 Release Also Revealed [Trailer]

Developer Maboroshi Artworks and Entalto Publishing have nailed down a December 3 release for SOMBRAS: negative frames, which will launch for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, the Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Physical media fans will also be getting in on the fun, as the game will also be receiving a physical release with the Special Frame Edition.

The Special Frame Edition includes the game on disc, as well as a reversible cover, the game’s artbook, and a download code for the game’s soundtrack, wallpapers, and a digital version of the artbook.

SOMBRAS: negative frames follows Shiomi Alterio, a Japanese-Spanish photography student who lives with her father in a Japanese town after her parents’ recent divorce. One night, Shiomi is engulfed by a dark dimension made of familiar streets, hungry shadows, and a cast of girls that look just like her. Shiomi must navigate these shadow-drenched streets, using her camera to capture unusual sights, and develop film rolls to upgrade equipment.

Along the way, she can befriend alternate versions of herself, collect occult trinkets, and unlock the strange doors blocking your path forward. However, she must also confront her repressed terrors in an emotional exploration of identity, youth, and dysfunctional family systems.
