If for whatever reason you just weren’t getting enough horror video game news this month, The Horror Game Awards certainly fixed that with this year’s Halloween Showcase. Clocking in at nearly three hours, the showcase had no shortage of trailers for new and upcoming games. Over 100, to be exact. As a result, here are a few highlights. And for further fun, you can check out their curated list of titles on Steam.
Serafini Games revealed that BrokenLore: ASCEND, which was announced in November of last year, will launch on January 7 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Players follow Ren and Yui, two rooftop climbers who live for views and likes on their channel, SKYLIMIT. Looking for the stunt that will top everything they have done before, they sneak into Elysium Tower, the tallest building in Japan, for a forbidden climb at night. Halfway up, the stunt turns into a fight to survive.
Developer Studio Abattoir has finally found a publisher in Silver Lining Interactive for their psychological horror RPG, The Pines. And while the game is still slated for release in 2027 on Steam, the new trailer offers a better look at what the team has in store for players.
The Pines sees players take on the role of Edward Walker, a former detective seeking solace at The Pines – a remote forest retreat that promises peace, therapy, and recovery. But behind the facade of warm smiles, cheerful signage, and carefully crafted image lies something far more disturbing, which will pull Edward headfirst into a surreal, paranoid and dizzying mystery with echoes of his past.
Ten Image Publishing and developer myradann have revealed their Night of the Living Dead-inspired incremental survival horror game, Night of the Idle Horde. In addition, the game has a demo that’s now available on Steam.
Launching on November 16, the game invites players to build their very own horde of flesh eating zombies, spread the infection across regions and topple humanity in this incremental idler. For players who want to pause their own brains, you can switch to Desktop Mode and customise the layout as you let the apocalypse happen in the corner of your screen.
Night of the Idle Horde wasn’t the only title Ten Image Publishing had in store for gamers. They also revealed Below The Blades from Dillion Muse, a first-person climbing survival horror set on an isolated wind turbine far out at sea, home to a chilling mystery and a stalking monster. Coming to Steam on November 12, you can also check out the game’s demo now.
Marsh Offshore Energy needs someone willing to climb its tallest creation: Turbine 46. Now you’re alone, scaling the 660 meter megalith with only a simple tool belt to complete the job. But you’re not alone for long. A Lovecraftian horror from beneath the waves has no intention of letting you escape Turbine 46.
If you thought you were done with OnTheHouse’s Huntsman, guess again. Launching on October 26 is the game’s “Protect & Serve” story DLC, allowing players to take the fight to the spiders. In addition, you’ll also be getting the game’s Hardcore Mode, which will launch for free to all players alongside the DLC.
Protect & Serve continues the story of Huntsman (which is available now on Steam), picking up shortly after the main game’s credits, this time putting you in the shoes of a local police officer. Swapping a flashlight for a handgun, this DLC brings combat to the game with its own dedicated mode, story and missions to complete, set in a new hidden location within Atherton Labs.
With Remothered: Red Run’s Legacy on the way later this month, developer Stormind Games has released a new trailer that focuses on the visual journey through the real places, textures, colors, and cultural details of Sicily that shaped the game’s world.
Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy will launch on October 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG.
