Exclusive Look At the ‘Cheap Thrills’ 45-Minute Documentary!
Drafthouse Films’ Cheap Thrills (read our review) is now on Blu-ray and DVD, and included on the release is an awesome 45-minute making-of documentary.
We’ve got an exclusive taste of the doc, filmed by TJ Nordaker, in which he goes behind-the-scenes of the brutal makeup work on star Pat Healy.
The 45-minute documentary chronicles the insanely tight 14-day shooting schedule with a fly-on-the-wall perspective of the pressures and rewards of making a first feature on an impossibly short schedule.
Other bonus features include audio commentary with Director E.L. Katz and Star Pat Healy, Cheap Thrills at Fantastic Fest 2013, trailers, a 16-page booklet and Digital Download.
“Cheap Thrills follows Craig (Pat Healy), a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. In an effort to delay facing the music at home, he heads to a local bar and encounters an old friend (Ethan Embry). The two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic, and obscenely wealthy, stranger (David Koechner) along with his mysterious wife (Sara Paxton). The couple engages the two friends in a series of innocent dares in exchange for money over the course of the evening, with each challenge upping the ante in both reward and boundaries. It seems like easy and much-needed money, but the couple’s twisted sense of humor pushes just how far Craig and his friend are willing to go for money and cheap thrills.”

Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ with Extended Cut & ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ Get Criterion Release in October
Guillermo del Toro had previously teased an extended cut of Frankenstein., and it’s finally on the way as part of the film’s new Criterion Collection release this October.
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein joins the Criterion Collection on October 27, 2026.
The release includes the theatrical cut, as well as “The Reborn Cut” which adds 8 additional minutes to the theatrical runtime.
