It’s no secret that I hated the new Godzilla, which is why I absolutely love this new “Honest Trailer” that takes a few minor jabs at the latest remake.
The joke that it’s the “best” U.S. remake is pretty hilarious, as it their note that Bryan Cranston’s screen time is both awful and minimal. They touch on the lack of the monsters, and that a lot of the action happens away from the central characters – of who are all completely moronic (the fact that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is more focused on battle than his own family drove me crazy, too).
But the gold is when they touch on the moderately insensitive approach to Ken Watanabe’s character who is basically there to spit out one-liners and stare intensely at Godzilla.
