How the ‘Dook Stole Christmas!

Published

on

Ring in the bloody holidays with Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook, one of the breakout genre films of the year! This awesome video comes courtesy of IFC Films.

Apparently it’s true. You can’t get rid of the Babadook. But I really don’t want to. I love that rascal.

Patrick writes stuff about stuff for Bloody and Collider. His fiction has appeared in ThugLit, Shotgun Honey, Flash Fiction Magazine, and your mother's will. He'll have a ginger ale, thanks.

on

Headed to the Fantasia Film Festival this month, Ferine examines the never-ending struggle between the rational and animal sides of human nature. Watch the official teaser trailer below.

Carolyn Bracken (Oddity, You Are Not My Mother) stars in Ferine.

Wealthy and influential art collector Irene (Carolyn Bracken) begins to develop an uncontrollable primal instinct that drives her into a spiral of destruction and animalistic transformation. Her path fatefully crosses with Dama (Caroline Goodall), a lavishly wealthy trafficker of exotic predator animals.

Dama recognizes that Irene has become a mercurial predator herself.

A morbid bond forms between them. Few in the vicinity will be safe.

Writer-director Andrea Corsini makes his feature debut on the English-language production, based on his 2019 short of the same name.

Paola Lavini and Elisabetta Caccamo round out the cast.

Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Don’t Look Now) composed the score.

The 30th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival begins this week in Montreal, running from July 16 through August 2. It’s set to unleash 125 features and 200+ shorts.
