So, here’s a little fact about me that most of you won’t know: I haven’t had cable or basic TV channels of any kind since I was nine years old. It’s been over two decades since I had any sort of TV channel in my place and, to be completely honest, I’m actually really happy about that. However, it does mean that I miss out on commercials and shows when they actually happen, which makes it difficult to keep up cultural references.
It also means that I miss out on little things like the commercial from Hotels.com that features music that sounds suspiciously like “Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me” from Silent Hill 3, which was composed by Akira Yamaoka. The commercial may have added a drum beat, which Yamaoka began adding to most of his compositions starting in SH 3 but really kicking into gear with SH 4 onwards, but there are still some very strong similarities.
Head below to see the commercial and then stream Yamaoka’s gorgeous track.
