The last time I was excited for a M. Night Shyamalan movie was when he released The Village.
Over a decade later, he’s returning to his roots with a micro-indie that was initially shot in secret. Now, with Blumhouse involved, it will open in theaters through Universal Pictures on September 11th, 2015.
We’ve been teasing The Visit for weeks now, and Uni has just unveiled what Grandma and Grandpa have been cooking… children.
Below is both the first images and trailer for the film, which looks like the best thing Shyamalan has done since Signs. First, I love the indie look. Second, the concept is spectacular and something many of us could relate to as children. What if we spent a weekend at our grandparents’ place…and something crazy was going on? Would our parents believe us? The trailer really shows a lot – too much in my opinion – as we see just how bizarre things get. One of the final moments leaves us with this question – is this a modern take on “Hansel and Gretel”? Grandma is cooking more than cookies…
