Today Sterling Cinema releases the first teaser trailer and images for Australian Feature film Observance ahead of its World Premiere next month at Montreal’s mammoth genre event, the Fantasia International Film Festival.
The horror-mystery has been described by the festival as “A poignant and terrifying thriller in the vein of Polanski’s Repulsion, Observance promises to haunt your nightmares.”
“In the grip of grief following the death of his young son, Parker reluctantly returns to work as a private investigator. Embarking on an unusual assignment to observe a woman from an abandoned apartment, Parker records the strange occurrences surrounding her, unaware that the derelict building that he surveys her from has birthed a dark presence which slowly threatens to consume him.“
Observance is the second film from director Joseph Sims-Dennett after his 2010 debut Bad Behavior and stars Lindsay Farris, who has most recently completed principal photography on Virtuoso for HBO by Alan Ball and Elton John, and Stephanie King from upcoming Australian independent feature Teenage Kicks. Supporting cast include John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), Brendan Cowell, Benedict Hardie and Tom O’Sullivan (Wolverine).
“We went to some very dark places with this film and it comes with great pride that Observance will meet audiences first at Fantasia,” says director Joseph Sims-Dennett.
Observance was filmed in Sydney, Australia and produced by Joseph Sims-Dennett and Josh Zammit, who also both co-wrote the film for Sterling Cinema. Shoreline Entertainment are handling international sales.
