‘The Gallows’ Clip Goes For the Throat

Published

on

A new clip from the found-footage horror The Gallows, in theaters July 10th, goes straight for the throat teasing yet another jump-scare. This clip was way more impressive.

We also interviewed the cast and crew here.

Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy—but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.

The Gallows is directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, who we also exclusively interviewed a few months back. There, you can read about the genesis of the film, who it ended up at Blumhouse before getting a release through New Line. They also speak to creating a micro-indie and how they hope they’ve created an iconic villain!

The Gallows stars Cassidy Gifford, Ryan Shoos, Reese Mishler and Pfeifer Brown.

Master Your Lovecraftian Cooking Skills in Co-Op Action Title ‘Elderfeast’ [Trailer]

Sure, the idea of Lovecraft in video games may be tired for some, but Lurker Entertainment has decided to mix things up with their newly-announced co-op action game, Elderfeast. Coming to Early Access on Steam next year, the game is headed up by Creative Director Ben Wanat, who worked on the original Dead Space trilogy. Elderfeast tasks you and your friends with hunting Lovecraftian horrors across the galaxy, slicing them up, and then cooking them.

You’ve just been made a member of The Order of the Void Eaters, and your job is to track and carve up an array of Lovecraftian-inspired horrors across the galaxy, then discover what they taste like. The better you cook, the stronger you become, but there’s always something more terrifying on the menu to hunt next.

As mentioned, you’ll be dismembering limbs, tentacles, and organs mid-combat, weakening your enemies while stocking your pantry with the freshest ingredients. You’ll have a variety of weapons to help you out in getting your ingredients, but that’s only part of it.

The other part is, of course, meal prep. Elderfeast touts a “unique immersive in-world cooking grid” that rewards clever placement and creative combinations, turning your hard-earned ingredients into something extraordinary. Master the cooking system to craft dishes that enhance your abilities, turning every successful recipe into a step toward becoming a more formidable chef.

Of course, it’s easier said than done, as you’ll be facing off against monsters that will eat anyone and anything. Feed them toxic ingredients, poisoned meals, and other creatures or you’ll find yourself at the top of the menu.
