Lawrie Brewster’s ‘The Unkindness of Ravens’ Looks Insane

Lawrie Brewster already impressed us with his micro indie Lord of Tears (review), now he’s back with more insanity in The Unkindness of Ravens.

Described as Apocalypse Now meets The Evil Dead, the film tells the story of a homeless army veteran besieged by a horde of demonic ravens in the highlands of Scotland.

“It’s gritty, it’s weird and it’s deeply disturbing,” Brewster tells us.

We have an “extreme” version of the trailer to go along with some really badass first imagery. To say this looks impressive is a complete understatement.

If you’re digging the goods as much as I am, they’re pre-selling the film via Kickstarter, which is a great way to support indie horror.

Gateway Horror Classic ‘The Gate’ Returns to Life With Blu-ray SteelBook in May

One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!

The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences.
