‘Rupture’ Clip Pulls a ‘Clockwork Orange’
Rupture (read our review) is a science-fiction thriller about a single mother (Prometheus‘ Noomi Rapace) abducted by a terrifying and mysterious organization who reveal to her that humanity faces an unsettling threat from within. In this new clip, a man has his eyes pried open, in an homage to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, where staring at pictures of his father are causing some sort of reaction inside his body. I am dying to know what comes next…
Rupture will be in theaters, VOD and Digital HD on April 28th.
Rupture stars Prometheus‘ Noomi Rapace, Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four, The Shield), Peter Stormare (Clown, Fargo, 22 Jump Street, The Big Labowski), Kerry Bishé (Argo, Sex and the City), Lesley Manville (Maleficent, Mr. Turner, Another Year) and Ari Millen (Orphan Black, Exit Humanity, 12 Monkeys).
Steven Shainberg (Secretary) directs Rupture, which is based on his own story with Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night, Devil). Nelson wrote the screenplay.
Here’s the full synopsis:
Renee Morgan (Rapace), a single mom who lives with her twelve-year-old son Evan in a quiet suburban home, is terrified of spiders. Unbeknownst to both, their every move is being observed. While running her daily errands her car breaks down and she is violently kidnapped by a group of strangers. About 24 hours later, in an anonymous laboratory, she is tied up and questioned about her medical history, including her great fear of spiders. Soon her captors explain to her that her genetic abnormality can potentially allow her to “Rupture”, revealing her own true alien nature.
Check out an exclusive clip here that’s strapped Rapace in for a ride to face her fears.

‘Scary Movie’ Hits $200 Million Worldwide While the Franchise Crosses $1 Billion Landmark
Earlier this month, the new Scary Movie broke a franchise record with a $105 million worldwide opening weekend, and the horror-comedy spoof has now passed $200 million.
The current domestic total for Scary Movie as we head into another weekend is $100 million, while the worldwide box office total currently sits at a healthy $208 million.
With that $208 million added to the franchise’s previous box office office totals over the years, Deadline notes this week, the Scary Movie franchise has now hit $1 billion!
Here are the worldwide totals for all six movies in the franchise to date…
- Scary Movie ($278M)
- Scary Movie 2 ($141.2M)
- Scary Movie 3 ($220.6M)
- Scary Movie 4 ($178.2M)
- Scary Movie 5 ($78.3M)
- Scary Movie 6 ($208.5M)
Deadline also notes in their report, “The current Scary Movie is the first pure R-rated comedy (not a hybrid action or superhero genre movie) to cross $100M since 2017’s Girls Trip.”
The reported production budget for Paramount’s new Scary Movie was just $30 million, ensuring that the franchise’s sixth installment will be turning a healthy profit in theaters.
Scary Movie is currently 23% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes and film’s CinemaScore was a dismal C+, but the film is nevertheless proving itself to be review-proof at the box office.
Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite for the new Scary Movie, with the cast also including Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Jon Abrahams, Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, and Felissa Rose.
Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe…
Scary Movie will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t. A whole lot has changed in the horror genre since the Wayans Brothers were in charge of the franchise; their involvement ended with Scary Movie 2 back in 2001!
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directed the new Scary Movie.
