We’ve seen countless zombie movies in the decades since George Romero kick-started the whole genre with Night of the Living Dead, but Irish director David Freyne is bringing something entirely different to the table with his debut feature.
In The Cured, starring Ellen Page (Juno, Flatliners), the zombies have already been cured at the start of the film. The cured now have to deal with what they’ve done.

“The film unfolds in the aftermath of a devastating virus which transformed the infected into zombie-like monsters. Mankind is struggling to rebuild societies deeply divided between the uninfected and those who did succumb to the virus and are still haunted by their violent actions. In the backdrop, the rise of a terrorist movement threatens to plunge the world into chaos again.”
Freyn directed from his own screenplay.
Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor also star.
