Especially in the wake of New Line experiencing record-breaking success with Andy Muschietti’s IT, it would seem that the biggest no-brainer project on the horror scene is a new take on the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. It’s been seven years since the dreadful remake failed to revitalize the series, and we are so ready for Freddy.
Unfortunately, we haven’t yet heard a single peep about the return of Freddy Krueger, which is making us wonder how much longer we’re going to have to wait. And even if Freddy does soon come back, what form will the new iteration of the franchise take? Will it be another remake of Wes Craven’s classic? How about a TV series?
(Sadly, one thing is for certain: Robert Englund won’t be back.)
YouTuber José Mellinas got tired of waiting for New Line to resurrect Freddy, so he just cut together a faux trailer that imagines the Elm Street franchise as a brand spankin’ new Netflix series. Using footage from films including the forthcoming New Mutants, Mellinas makes a pretty good case for Elm Street slashing up the small screen.
