[Video] Watch the 30-Year Evolution of Chucky for Chucky’s Birthday!

Published

on

The franchise has proven that a true classic never goes out of style.

Today is a pretty big day in the world of the Child’s Play franchise, as it was on this day in 1988 that we first met Chucky in the original Child’s Play. Oddly enough, it was also on November 9th, just two years later, that Chucky returned in Child’s Play 2!

I guess that makes November 9th “Chucky Day.” Spread the word.

The coolest thing about the Child’s Play franchise, which has now been running for just under 30 years, is that it’s never been remade, rebooted, or whatever the hell else you want to call it. Franchise creator Don Mancini has remained in charge over the course of the past three decades, building upon that original story rather than telling a new one.

New sequel Cult of Chucky, out now, does just that, bringing Andy back into the mix!

In celebration of Chucky’s big day, we encourage you to watch YouTube channel Then & Now’s video “Evolution of Chucky in Movies & TV, which highlights not only all seven films in the franchise but also Chucky’s various appearances on TV and in special web materials. It’s pretty comprehensive, and a fun reminder that Chucky has remained king of the killer dolls ever since he first came to life on November 9, 1988.

Happy Birthday, little guy!
