‘Compulsion’ Trailer Uncovers An Italian Psycho-sexual Cult! [Exclusive]

I love reading about conspiracies like the Freemasons and the Illuminati, and I especially enjoy cult-based films inspired by both. Craig Goodwill‘s (Patch Town, Mi666) Compulsion looks like a psycho-sexual horror film that takes from Stanley Kubrick’s steamy cult thriller Eyes Wide Shut and sends it to Dario Argento’s hell.

Described as an homage to the 1970’s sexual-thriller, “Compulsion tells the story of Sadie (Analeigh Tipton), a budding erotic novelist, is enticed by an ex-lover to join him and an enigmatic woman named Francesca at an Italian Villa. Once there, Sadie is confronted by the demons of her past as she becomes embroiled in a surreal game of murder and betrayal.

“The concept for treating Sadie is poetic in its violence, psychology and eroticism, and through the discovery of pain and pleasure we discover truth,” Goodwill said in an interview last year.

Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the film’s first official trailer to go along with new domestic and international art. The trailer is hypnotizing, erotic, and very bloody. It’s quite reminiscent of Kubrick’s The Shining and Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan.

From Atlantic Screen Productions, ETV Films and The Ring producer Mike Macari, with Craig Goodwill, and Neil Dunn, Ketchup Entertainment will be releasing the film here in the States on March 15, 2018, while it will open in Germany through Splendid on Feb. 23, Japan (Klockworx) on March 6, and in the UK (Kaleidoscope) on Feb. 6. Updated: It will also arrive in Scandinavia, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Australia/NZ on March 15.

Analeigh Tipton (Crazy Stupid Love, Viral), Marta Gastini (Borgia, The Rite), Jakob Cedergren (Terribly Happy, Submarino), and Jan Bijvoet (Borgman, Embrace the Serpent) star. Written by Brian Clark.  Simon Fawcett, Moira Romano, and Julie Kroll executive produced.
