“See underwater thrills never photographed before!”
This year’s Academy Awards, airing Sunday night, are uncharacteristically important for the horror genre, as both Get Out and The Shape of Water will potentially be taking home multiple major awards. The latter film, Guillermo del Toro’s proudest achievement, is up for THIRTEEN Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Ahead of the ceremony, BD reader Erick Solis just dropped into our inbox a retro-style trailer he put together for The Shape of Water, which presents the 2017 film as a 1950s monster movie. Fitting, given Del Toro has made no secret of the fact that his latest was heavily inspired by Universal’s Creature from the Black Lagoon.
