Stylish ‘The Crescent’ Trailer Forebodes Terror

Published

Seth A Smith‘s horror The Crescent, which had its World Premiere in the Midnight Madness portion of the Toronto International Film Festival last year, just released theatrically in Canada via Raven Banner and will soon be released on Amazon Prime, iTunes and VOD starting September 4.

In the film, “After an unexpected death in the family, a mother and son struggle to find spiritual healing at a beachfront summer home. All the while, a mysterious force from the sea threatens to tear their souls apart.” It stars Andrew Gillis, Amy Trefry, and Britt Loder.

Joe Lipsett reviewed for Bloody and called it “twisty and nightmarish.”

Smith is a Nova Scotia-based filmmaker, visual artist, and musician (he has also composed the full score for The Crescent, which will be released on vinyl later this fall), adds the site. His films often pop up on the genre festival circuit, where their dark tone and surrealist style set them apart.

Zach Cregger and Brian Duffield Teaming on ‘Siren Head’ Horror Movie Based on Viral Sensation

Trevor Henderson's Siren Head

Hollywood is seeking its next Backrooms and may have found it in artist Trevor Henderson‘s Siren Head. Horror heavy hitters Zach Cregger (Weapons, Resident Evil) and Brian Duffield (Spontaneous, Whalefall) are teaming on a new movie.

Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the underlying rights to Siren Head; THR reports that the studio emerged victorious from a five-studio bidding war with a massive, multi-million dollar deal.

What is Siren Head? It’s creature designer Trevor Henderson’s hostile, 40-foot cryptid, a rotting skeletal figure with two sirens as a head. Henderson’s 2018 art took off on the internet, growing into full blown sensation, racking up 3 billion TikTok views, one billion YouTube views, and millions of Roblox plays.

Cregger is teaming with Duffield to write the script, with Duffield to direct.

Siren Head has clearly evolved into its own monster mythology, attracting Cregger and Duffield. Per THR, “The duo are said to have found a take into the world that jazzed them into collaborating and in turn, excited the studios into bidding.”

Cregger will also produce the feature along with Roy Lee and Andrew Childs of Vertigo Entertainment, the production company that produced Weapons. Scott Glassgold of 12:01 Films, which specializes in finding Hollywood-friendly material on the internet, will also produce. Duffield will produce via his banner, Jurassic Party Productions.
