[Video] First Teaser for Short Fan Film ‘Georgie’ Brings Back the Mini-Series’ Original Georgie Actor!

Published

on

Our friend John Campopiano is one of the biggest fans of Stephen King’s IT out there, a fandom that led to him writing and co-producing the forthcoming documentary, Pennywise: The Story of IT. As we recently told you, Campopiano is now teaming with filmmaker Ryan Grulich on Georgie, a short film that will bring the *original* Georgie Denbrough back to life.

The fan-made short from Creepy Kingdom is essentially an unofficial sequel to the 1990 mini-series adaptation of King’s IT, with actor Tony Dakota reprising the role he originated 28 years ago, as a young child. The upcoming short will be his first acting role in 25 years.

Ben Heller, young Stanley Uris from IT 1990, will also star!

Check out the teaser below.

The press release details…

“Near the intersection of Witcham and Jackson, Georgie Denbrough’s young life came to an abrupt and tragic end. His paper boat–assembled from a Derry News newspaper with care by his older brother, Bill–had careened down a sewer drain and into the hands of what, not who, would be his killer. Its maiden voyage into death. But what if Pennywise the Dancing Clown hadn’t killed Georgie after all? What if Georgie had somehow escaped death and managed to live some semblance of a normal life in the not-so-normal town of Derry? What might his world look like? Or that of the Denbrough family? Would this horrific experience color their view of the universe?

Like the themes explored in Stephen King’s IT, what role does grief, memory, and the confronting of our childhood traumas as children play here? GEORGIE is a snapshot of this very scenario–an experiment in fantastical reinventions that proposes an alternative reality in which, maybe, Georgie Denbrough still walks the earth. But even then, maybe, not everything is at it seems.”

The project is currently being crowd-funded through Indiegogo, with special perks that include a Fright Rags t-shirt, a pin, signed posters and even a phone call with Tony Dakota.
