‘Assassination Nation’: The Witches of Salem Fight Back in Bloody Red Band Trailer!

After being acquired out of the Sundance Film Festival, Neon is slicing and dicing into theaters with their ultra-violent Assassination Nation, which they’ll release on September 21.

The film just got a brand new red band trailer, which boasts a Purge-meets-Heathers-like thriller that’s overflowing with violence. I love that it’s a modern take on the witches of Salem (they’re not actually witches in this), only here, everyone’s going to pay for what they’ve done.

“This is a thousand percent a true story about how the quiet, all-American town of Salem, absolutely lost its mind.”

Fred Topel reviewed the film after its World Premiere, calling it “The Salem Wikileaks Trials”.

In the Sam Levinson-directed Assassination Nation

High school senior Lily and her group of friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats just like the rest of the world. So, when an anonymous hacker starts posting details from the private lives of everyone in their small town, the result is absolute madness leaving Lily and her friends questioning whether they’ll live through the night.

The film stars Odessa Young, Suki Waterhouse, Hari Nef, Abra, Bill Skarsgard, Bella Thorne, Colman Domingo, Joel McHale, and Aniki Noni Rose.
