With Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween currently scaring kids on the big screen, let’s take a moment to appreciate the incredible longevity of R.L. Stine‘s iconic creation. When I was growing up in the early ’90s, the Goosebumps books were massively popular, and it’s pretty wild that all these years later, the brand is still relevant and now even pumping out movies.
It was back in July 1992 that Welcome to Dead House, the very first Goosebumps book, was published, which means the brand has been going strong for nearly 30 years now! To this day, Stine is still pumping out new Goosebumps books, and in addition to the successful movie franchise, side projects like comic books and even a mobile game are keeping it alive and well.
From board games to a hit television series, the new fan-made doc Goosebumps: The Saga of Scares covers the franchise from 1992 to 2018, tracking its rise, decline and rebirth.
If you’ve got 45 minutes to spare, this is a must-watch for all GB fans.
