Orion’s ‘The Prodigy’ Looks Like An Intense New Take On the Creepy Kid Genre [Video]

Orion Pictures is raising the kid from hell in The Prodigy, opening in theaters on February 8, 2019.

The Prodigy tells the story of a young mother (Taylor Schilling) who, concerned about her 8-year-old son’s (IT‘s Jackson Robert Scott) disturbing behavior, thinks something supernatural may be affecting him.

The trailer pulls from classics such as The Omen and Bad Seed with a horrifying twist that looks surprisingly fresh, which shouldn’t come as a shock considering The Pact‘s Nicholas McCarthy is directing.

Taylor Schilling (Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black”) stars with Jackson Robert Scott (It, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead). Peter Mooney (Burden of Truth), Colm Feore (Thor) and Brittany Allen (What Keeps You Alive, Jigsaw,  It Stains the Sands Red, Extraterrestrial) also star.

Screenwriter Jeff Buhler penned The Midnight Meat Train, Insanitarium and Pet Sematary.

The film is produced by Tripp Vinson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose). Daniel Bekerman, Lisa Zambri, Nick Spicer and Jeff Buhler will serve as exec producers.
