Fan’s Digitally Animated Short Film Shows What Computer Generated ‘Gremlins’ Would Look Like

Published

We’d prefer practical, of course, but this is pretty damn impressive all the same.

Whenever we write an article about a potential new Gremlins sequel/reboot/whatever, the most common concern is that the little critters would be computer-generated in the present day, rather than brought to the screen with practical animatronics like they were in the 1980s. It’s a fair concern, as a modern day Gremlins would no doubt pepper in a good deal of CGI.

But what would that look like? Fan Christian Dan Bejarano’s new short tribute video Gremlin features a computer-generated Stripe, and we’ve gotta say, it looks better than you’d expect! Visual effects sure have come a long way over the years, but we’re thinking the best way to do Gremlins today would be to blend old school practical work with those CGI effects.

In any event, check out the Gremlin short below!
