Ahead of the SXSW World Premiere, here’s our first look at a teaser trailer for Pollyanna McIntosh‘s Darlin’, which she wrote, directed and stars in!
“In this visually inventive sequel to Bloody Disgusting’s The Woman, a feral teenage girl is taken into strict Catholic care and prepared for her First Holy Communion.”
EW detailed the plot further: “Darlin’ picks up 10 years after the events of The Woman, when McIntosh’s titular character escaped with the then-young Darlin’ in tow. Now Darlin’ in is a Catholic home for girls while the Woman resides in an all-female homeless encampment. Naturally, trouble is a-brewin.”
The cast includes Lauryn Canny (1,000 Times Good Night, Amber), Bryan Batt (Mad Men, 12 Years a Slave), Nora-Jane Noone (The Magdalene Sisters, The Descent, Brooklyn) and Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead, Shazam, Halt and Catch Fire), as well as fellow The Walking Dead alumni Sabrina Gennarino and Thomas Francis Murphy.
Darlin‘ is a Hood River Entertainment production with Andrew van den Houten producing and Lucky McKee and the late Jack Ketchum as executive producers.
