[Video] 14 Years Ago, Mark Hamill Voiced Chucky for an Episode of “Robot Chicken”!

It was announced over the weekend that MGM and Orion have landed Mark Hamill for Child’s Play, with the legendary Star Wars icon voicing the new iteration of Chucky for this year’s remake. Mind you, Brad Dourif will always be Chucky in our eyes, but it’s hard to imagine more perfect casting – if Dourif *had* to be replaced, that is – than Hamill as the killer doll.

Hamill, after all, has done some incredible voice work over the years, memorably voicing the Joker for “Batman: The Animated Series” and several other projects. And wouldn’t ya know it, Hamill had even already voiced horror icon Chucky, 14 years before landing the role proper!

You could say that the 2005 “Robot Chicken” episode ‘Plastic Buffet’ predicted the future, as it featured Hamill providing the voice for a Chucky action figure. In the segment, Chucky does battle with an army of Cabbage Patch Kids hungry for souls – the bit was part of a larger skit wherein Sarah Michelle Gellar was detailing the plot of a proposed eighth season of “Buffy.”

What will Mark Hamill sound like as Chucky? Maybe we already know…

Thanks to Screen Geek for reminding us of this fun (and, in hindsight, eerily prescient) skit!
