Don’t Watch the Trailer for Netflix’s ‘The Perfection’, One of the Year’s Best Horror Films [Video]

The Perfection

One of the year’s best horror films is Richard Shepard’s The Perfection, a shocking and unpredictable film in which a cello prodigy’s pursuit for perfection takes a sinister turn.

There hasn’t been much to report on this under-the-radar festival favorite, which Trace raved in his review “delivers twisted, shocking and hilarious perfection.“ Thankfully, this means that many of the film’s surprises have been kept under wraps. Even this first trailer doesn’t spoil much, although it does offer a glimpse into one of the film’s most shocking sequences. I strongly recommend avoiding this trailer (go in as blind as possible) and just marking your calendars for Friday, May 24th, when Netflix streams the film worldwide. You can add it early by clicking here.

The Perfection stars Get Out’s Allison Williams and Dear White People‘s Logan Browning, with Steven Weber as the duo’s mentor.

It’s time to face the music.

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
