Netflix’s ‘Rim of the World’ Trailer Boasts an Alien Invasion Monster Movie with Kids!

With “Stranger Things” heading to summer camp this July, Netflix is firing up the grill early with the sci-fi adventure flick Rim of the World, which has just been dated for streaming arrival on May 24th.

The trailer was released this morning and looks like it could be fun. The good is that it looks like a huge monster movie in the vein of Attack the Block. The bad is that it’s directed by McG, not to mention that the effects look shoddy at best. I’m not sure McG is capable of delivering likable performances from kids, and the trailer most definitely didn’t make me feel any better about it, but we’ll reserve judgment for when camp opens later this month.

“Summer camp at Rim of the World has barely begun when four misfit teenagers — Alex, ZhenZhen, Dariush, and Gabriel — find they’ve got bigger problems to face than learning how to canoe and climb ropes when aliens suddenly invade the planet. Alone in a campground once teeming with people, the kids are unexpectedly entrusted with a key that carries the secret to stopping the invasion. Without any adults or electronics to help guide the way, it’s clear what they must do: band together, conquer their fears, and save the world.”

Jack Gore, Miya Cech, Benjamin Flores Jr., Alessio Scalzotto and Andrew Bachelor star.
