Directed by Robert Eggers, last year’s The Lighthouse is up for just one Oscar at the Academy Awards this weekend, nominated in the Best Achievement in Cinematography (Jarin Blaschke) category. At the Film Independent Spirit Awards, however, the story is quite different.
The Lighthouse is up for FIVE Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Male Lead (Robert Pattinson), Best Supporting Male (Willem Dafoe), Best Director (Robert Eggers), Best Cinematography (Jarin Blaschke), and Best Editing (Louise Ford). In fact, The Lighthouse is tied with Uncut Gems for the most nominations at this year’s celebration of excellence in indie film.
