Watch ‘Honeydew’ Star Sawyer Spielberg on the “Today” and “Drew Barrymore” Shows [Bloody Disgusting x Dark Star]

Honeydew is finally being served on VOD and we’re so insanely excited for you all to see what we cooked up for you.

The first Bloody Disgusting x Dark Star Pictures collaboration is arthouse horror by way of Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre. While that may be a pretty potent selling point, another is that the acclaimed backwoods horror feature, written and directed by Devereux Milburn, boasts the acting debut of Sawyer Spielberg, son of director Steven Spielberg!

Sawyer stars opposite Malin Barr as a couple who are forced to seek shelter in the home of an aging farmer and her peculiar son where they suddenly begin having strange cravings and hallucinations taking them down a rabbit hole of the bizarre.

While you can also listen to Sawyer talk about Honeydew on Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew Podcast, he’s also been making national appearances on some pretty big morning shows, including “The Today Show” and “The Drew Barrymore Show”. The latter is a pretty cool interview as Drew made her Hollywood debut in Steven Spielberg’s E.T., and Sawyer reveals that their on-set relationship may have been the catalyst in his own birth. He even shares a really, really cool story about how his dad would (direct him) waking up for school when he was a teen.

In the latter “Today” bit, “Sawyer opens up about what it was like making the movie, how he overcame his initial hesitancy to become an actor and his memories of being on the set of Saving Private Ryan with his father.”

Honeydew is now available on all streaming platforms with DVD and Blu-ray on the horizon.

Keith C. Blackmore’s book series Mountain Man is headed to the screen, with Deadline reporting today that Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) is on board to star in the film adaptation.

The actor will also produce the upcoming zombie movie.

Mountain Man tells the story of Gus, a lonely post-apocalyptic survivor facing isolation and the ever-present specter of a zombie attack, who struggles with alcohol abuse and suicidal thoughts until he discovers another survivor, a captivating woman who poses another threat altogether.”

John Lee (False Positive) will direct Mountain Man from a script by Matt Deller.

“John is a brilliant creative mind. We’ve been looking for the right thing to do together since we filmed Pee Wee’s Big Holiday and it’s finally here,” 3:59’s Joe and Nick Manganiello told Deadline. “Very excited to get to work on such weird, wild project with him.”

Film Bridge International is launching sales on the project in Cannes.

Blackmore’s Mountain Man series features 7 books, the first one published in 2011.
