Indie Horror Spotlight: Syxx Pixx Volume 4
Mike Syxx is back with his fourth addition of “Syxx Pixx”. Read on for your first look at films such as BRANJACKED, HACKSAW: DOCUMENTARY OF A PSYCHO KILLER, the horror/comedy HELLCAGE and much, much more!
Oh, what an jammed month it has been. Between the economy, a new President and all the thrills a new year brings with it, I neglected my duty to bring you the indie film news! No fear, chums, we’re back on track thanks to BRAINJACKED!
Coming Soon: The Film Ranch International duo of Andrew Allan and Andy Lalino are closing in on releasing their newest feature BRAINJACKED. The FILTHY crew is bringing us a “story of Tristan Davis, a young runaway lured to “The Garden”, a rehab center for homeless youth. The Garden is overseen by the seemingly sympathetic Dr. Karas, who cures Tristan from raging migraines. Little does Tristan suspect, however, that The Garden is a front for sadistic experiments executed by Karas and his runaway minions. It’s up for Tristan to stop the doctor’s ultimate plans of taking over the city’s youth population and making them an unbeatable street army controlled by the evil Karas.”
Last year I had a chance to visit the set and there were not enough good things that could be said of what I saw. The sets, make-up and crew were all kicking ass, something that is sometimes hard to find in the indie spectrum and after a number of months waiting patiently, we finally have a trailer!
Coming Soon: Ethan Rogers, of the indie film company Cinema 18, dropped me a letter directing my attention to a small horror flick he was editing called HACKSAW: DOCUMENTARY OF A PSYCHO KILLER. Mr. Rogers claimed that it was a bit like a cross between CLOVERFIELD and AUGUST UNDERGROUND. I’m no fan of the Clovey monstery, so it better be heavy on the snuff and light on the shaky-cam. Check out the trailer below.
In the Works: Word came into my mailbox earlier this month that Kerry Knowlton, the president of Chokehold Productions, is putting his pro-wrestling expertise to work in a horror/comedy indie pic called HELLCAGE. Information was vague in terms of how far along the film is in production, but we did get a synopsis, “It is a horror/comedy/thriller about a man going thru a mid life crisis and he joints the AA AAA AAAAA A1 Acme School of Professional Wrestling…Motto: `We may not be the best but we’re first in the phone book.’ There he uncovers a sinister plot involving death matches which are actually to the death. It is an exciting mix of live action and CG. I am attaching a teaser pic of one of the wrestlers walking to the ring.”
According to the e-mail, Kerry Knowlton has claimed credits include writing, directing and starring in the NBC special “Exposed Pro Wrestling’s Greatest Secrets.” Kerry’s writing cred is also applied to the so-bad-it’s-good Roddy Pipper feature IMMORTAL COMBAT and WITCHCRAFT X.
This is gonna be good! Don’t believe me? Look at these clips from the movies listed above!
And that’s it for this week! Why don’t youvdrop me a line with your films or maybe an independent film from days of old that needs some attention!

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed
The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.
“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”
Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”
EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.
Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.
The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final.
Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
