Kid Rock To Play Show With Detroit Symphony Orchestra

I’m finding myself more and more impressed with Kid Rock and his attitudes toward music, the music industry, and local commitment. Last year, there was this article which spoke of Rock’s anger towards ticket fees as well as beer and t-shirt prices at concerts. Now, Kid Rock has announced that he will be teaming up with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a benefit concert for the DSO. The goal is to raise $1 million for the beleaguered outfit.

Rock stated, “I’m a musician, I care about the field. My love’s for all music. I don’t go to the orchestra, I don’t know that I’ve ever been to the DSO. But I know that people do, and it’s a part of our culture and our history and our city, and it’s another cornerstone that makes our city great. To see that fall by the wayside, knowing I can do something about it, wasn’t something I was comfortable with.”

The DSO has suffered greatly over the years. The problems were only made worse when a six-month strike basically cancelled the 2010-2011 season.

Kid Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker band will be joined by the 70-piece orchestra as they play revisions of many of this biggest hits over a 60-90 minute set list. Rock will work with composer Rob Mathes to oversee these songs.

The concert will be held May 12th at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit, MI, which has donated it’s space for the event. Tickets will range in price from $100 to $1,500. The two top-tier price levels include access to an after party. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10a.m. EST.

On a personal note, I have been to several DSO shows and they were all beautiful and well worth every penny. I’m hoping that this will be a great success as keeping arts and culture in Detroit is one step towards making this city great again.

‘I Love My Robot’ – Sheri Moon Zombie Releases First Music Video, Directed by Rob Zombie

After appearing in Rob Zombie’s music videos and movies over the years, Sheri Moon Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects) has now released her own debut single and music video, I Love My Robot. The video, which you can watch below, was directed by husband Rob Zombie.

The track playfully takes a jab at the use of Generative AI in the arts.

The official press release details, “Helmed by acclaimed producer Zeuss and accompanied by a video directed by Rob Zombie, the track blends retro sci-fi, playful camp, and infectious hooks into an irresistibly offbeat anthem that is unmistakably Sheri.
