SD Comic-Con ’10: Reeves Confirms Some Sorta Plans For ‘Cloverfield 2’!

Published

on

Some really big news out of the San Diego Comic-Con regarding the long-gestured Coverfield sequel that we’re all praying for. While both producer J.J. Abrams and director Matt Reeves have been tight-lipped, Reeves opened up to us this weekend while out promoting his much anticipated Let Me In adaptation. “Cloverfield 2 is on hold for now… it’s not dead, it’s dormant,” says Reeves. “J.J. is very involved with Super 8 and I’ve been doing Let Me In that so we have shelved it until we can get the team from the first back together.” He also clarified that he would like to be the one back behind the camera. It’s nice to hear him actually say they PLAN on doing it still, as opposed to abandoning the project completely. Too bad we won’t be hearing anything until at the earliest next summer when Paramount releases Abrams’ Super 8.

Published

Before Michael Dougherty made the Halloween classic Trick ‘r Treat, he first introduced the world to the lovable Sam in the 1996 animated short film, Season’s Greetings. The short served as the basis for the anthology feature film, and Season’s Greetings has now been given a brand spankin’ new 4K restoration as we approach another Halloween season.

Michael Dougherty has announced that the brand new 4K remaster of his short Season’s Greetings will be screening at the Fantasia International Film Festival this Summer!

Dougherty writes on Instagram, “Thirty years after he first crept from the shadows one fateful Halloween night, Sam is headed to Montreal. I’m excited to announce that Season’s Greetings, the hand-drawn animated short that first introduced Sam, has been officially selected to screen at the Fantasia International Film Festival in a brand-new 4K restoration with remastered 5.1 audio. The film will screen July 23 at 9:30 PM and July 26 at 10:30 AM, before Rubberhead: The Life & Monsters of Steve Johnson.”

Can’t make it to Fantasia this year? We’ve got good news! Dougherty teases…

“I couldn’t ask for a better place to kick off what’s shaping up to be a very busy spooky season. Because this is just the first stop. More screenings, events, and a few more tricks are on the way…”

You can grab tickets to the Season’s Greetings Fantasia screening right now.

“Twelve years before Trick ‘r Treat had horror fans across the world loving the burlap-donning Sam, the character first appeared in this wonderful animated short from director Michael Dougherty,” Fantasia previews. “As Season’s Greetings is turning 30 this year, we’re celebrating with a special screening of the original short in a stunning new 4K restoration.”

This year’s 30th anniversary Fantasia Film Festival runs from July 16 – August 2.
