News Bites: Opening Credits of ‘Blade’ Anime, ‘Total Recall’ Set Pics & ‘Melancholia’ Art

Published

on

This morning there’s a slew of interesting little nuggets of news worthy of a quick blurb. First, inside you’ll find the latest official poster for Magnolia’s Melancholia, directed by the controversial Lars Von Trier for release on November 4. In addition, we’ve updated our image gallery with a rash of new stills from the pic that follow Kristen Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg, two sisters whose lives are drifting apart as the universe spectacularly unravels in what Von Trier describes as a beautiful movie about the end of the world.

Also beyond the break is a link to behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the now-filming redo of Total Recall. The pics aren’t eventful but do give us a look at both Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel in costume. Len Wiseman directs for Columbia Pictures with an August 3, 2012 date set in stone. The movie is ditches the Martian storyline from the original pic and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell), a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy — although he doesn’t know for which side.

About a month ago, a trailer for the Madhouse Animation Blade anime series hit the web, which is rumored to be premiering stateside later this year on G4TV. The series, written by Kenta Fukasaku (Battle Royale and, sadly, Battle Royale II), will focus on Blade teaming up with a young vampire hunter from Japan, plus Noah Van Helsing and his dog Razor, against the evil Deacon Frost and his minions in Asia. The opening credits have begun making the rounds today, which features a whole lot of fire and Blade flashing his fancy gadgets around.

‘Scary Movie’ Heads to Blu-ray in September After $224 Million Box Office Win

Published

on

Over one month later, Scary Movie is still playing in theaters and still making money, with the franchise’s brand new installment slashing into $224.5 million at the worldwide box office.

In fact, the Scary Movie franchise has now collectively passed $1 billion in theaters!

Scary Movie is headed to Digital at home soon, and a listing on Amazon this week indicates that the film will be making its way to Blu-ray and DVD this coming September.

The film is listed for DVD and Blu-ray release on September 22, 2026.

We don’t have any additional release information at this time. Stay tuned.

Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite for the new Scary Movie, with the cast also including Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Jon Abrahams, Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, and Felissa Rose.

Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe…

Scary Movie will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t. A whole lot has changed in the horror genre since the Wayans Brothers were in charge of the franchise; their involvement ended with Scary Movie 2 back in 2001!

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directed the new Scary Movie.
