Real-Life Terror ‘Still of Night’ Promises To Give You Nightmares

Published

on

Exclusive Media will finance and produce the new thriller Still of Night, written and to be directed by Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3, Breakdown) and starring Michelle Monaghan (Source Code) with Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon (pictured below; Dead Man Walking, Rocky Horror Picture Show) in final negotiations to star, it was announced today by Exclusive Media Co-Chairmen, Nigel Sinclair and Guy East.

The pitch is what caught my interest as they described it as “a paranoia thriller that builds to a pulse-pounding crescendo, Still of Night is a smart, stylish ride packed with shocking twists that will give you nightmares – because it could actually happen to you.” Sounds dark.

Katie Tyler (Michelle Monaghan) is an aspiring career woman with everything finally falling into place…until her sister Gwen disappears. Fully aware of Gwen’s tainted past and suddenly left to take care of her young daughter, Katie sets out determined to bring her back. But as she traces Gwen’s last whereabouts, Katie begins to suspect foul play, and soon finds herself tangled in the midst of a dangerous conspiracy with cruel and inhumane consequences. Trapped and running out of time, Katie must outwit a devious criminal (Susan Sarandon) to save herself and her sister – before it’s too late.

Matt Jackson, Exclusive Media’s Executive Vice President and Head of US Production, will oversee production on the project which is scheduled to start shooting in August 2012.

Adam Wingard’s ‘Onslaught’ Receives ‘R’ Rating for Strong Bloody Violence and Sexual Material

Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) is getting back to his roots with the A24 movie Onslaught, and the film has received an ‘R’ rating from the MPA this week.

Releasing in theaters on September 4, Adam Wingard’s Onslaught is Rated ‘R’ for “Strong bloody violence, some gore, sexual material/nudity, and language.”

Watch the previously released Onslaught trailer below.

The duo behind The Guest, director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, are re-teaming for the upcoming Onslaught, which stars Adria Arjona in the leading role.

Here’s the synopsis: “When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers break loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter.”

Rebecca Hall (The Night House, Godzilla x Kong) and Dan Stevens (The Guest) also star in Adam Wingard’s upcoming new movie Onslaught alongside Michael Biehn, Reginald VelJohnsonEric WareheimDrew Starkey, and Alex “Poatan” Pereira

Wingard has spent the past several years making Hollywood blockbusters including Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and the idea behind Onslaught is to get back to his filmmaking roots. Onslaught looks very much in line with Wingard’s fan favorite The Guest, so much so that fans have been speculating that it’s set in the very same universe.

Dan Stevens starred alongside Maika Monroe in 2014 action-thriller The Guest. He played a mysterious ex-soldier with a secret agenda who wreaks havoc on a small town.

At the very least, The Guest and Onslaught look to be cut from the same cloth.

And yes, Dan Stevens is in both of them!
