‘Sullivan’s Sluggers’ Battle The Undead
Broken Road Production’s Todd Garner has teamed up with Adam Herz and Joshua Shader of Terra Firma Films to produce an adaptation of Sullivan’s Sluggers, a horror baseball graphic novel by Mark Andrew Smith and James Stokoe, reports THR. Tom and Tim Mullen have been tapped to write the script.
Described by Smith as a “Major League meets Zombieland and then some,” “‘Sluggers’ follows a has-been baseball manager Casey Sullivan and his dysfunctional minor league Sluggers who get an invitation to play a small venue game. Soon enough, they find themselves fighting for their lives against a town of shape-shifting monsters on a feeding frenzy and the has-beens and wannabes must use long-forgotten skills of teamwork to get out alive.”
The creators are selling the 200-page graphic novel via a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.com, raising six times their pledge goal in the first five days.
Garner, Herz, and Shader, who liked the graphic novel’s mix of terror and laughs and descibe it as an homage to the works of Sam Raimi and Goerge Romero, will be producing with Oric Scott De Las Casas and Sean Robins.

Seidi Haarla (Compartment No. 6) and Rupert Grint (Knock at the Cabin, “Servant”) star as new parents in Nightborn, and this exclusive clip highlights mom’s harrowing transition into motherhood.
In Nightborn, “With dreams of starting a perfect family, Saga and her British husband Jon move to the isolated house where she spent much of her childhood, deep in the Finnish forest. But as soon as their baby is born, despite the reassurance of all around her, Saga knows there’s something terribly wrong with her son. As their marriage starts to crack, Jon struggles to support his wife, but only Saga suspects the terrible truth about her newborn.”
Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, Rebecca Lacey and John Thomson also star.
Bergholm teased of her maternal horror movie, “In Nordic countries, there’s a long-standing mythology of trolls living in the forests. In ancient times, people truly believed that trolls inhabited the woods and had a kind of control over nature. And in Nightborn, the forest reflects Saga’s emotions and the animalistic, primitive physical side of humankind.”
