Something that I personally feel doesn’t get enough love on BD is anime. I grew up on the stuff, watching Japanimation on the Sci-Fi network when it was hosted by Ralph Bakshi, the insane genius behind Fritz The Cat and Cool World. That’s where I first saw Project A-Ko, Dominion Tank Police, Venus Wars, and, perhaps most important and relevant to this article, Vampire Hunter D.
It was the start of an on-off relationship with animation, one that never faded away but one that I certainly have not fed enough over the years.
When I look at some of the titles that have been released, I’m blown away by the gorgeous animation, the beautiful music, and the amazingly complex and interwoven story lines. Some of the films and series’ have stayed with me for well over half my life, some even longer.
And so I wanted to pay homage to some of the titles that I love dearly. Then, I want to hear from you about some of your favorite titles!
