We all know that tons of actors got their start in horror films. From Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th to Johnny Depp in A Nightmare on Elm Street and Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween, many of these are already well-known facts. The 11 actors and actresses that follow aren’t commonly brought up when mentioning actors who got their start in horror (although you may already know some of them). Not all of these are the actors’ first films, but they are in the beginnings of their careers. I can definitely say that more than a few of these took me by surprise!
Viggo Mortensen – Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3
Mortensen portrayed a villainous member of the Sawyer family (named “Tex,” no less) in this 1990 sequel to the original masterpiece. Luckily, the film didn’t taint his career, since he went on to star in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Cronenberg’s A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, and many other high-profile films.
