Excellent premise, very good script, the stars are perfect, James Wong is flawless; definitively a must see.
Very good.
Not bad good start to the franchise. Each one is getting better and better. Cant wait for #4 in 3D thats gonna be so badass.
I really liked this movie.
It’s great to see someone finally do something different. Totally awesome movie.
Death itself is the villain in this story; it’s trying to catch up with a bunch of teens who managed to avoid a fatal plane explosion. Tony Todd turns in a memorable but brief appearance. Interesting premise and a lot of fun, but I would have appreciated some more fleshed-out characters.
near perfect fun horror film that was a blast beginning to end, and i felt it was a new type of horror movie in the same way that when the first scream came out , it was the right place the right time with the right elements, a home run
crazy goood
Awesome movie for its time…but the sequels..not so awesome
Love this movie, but its not my favorite of the three.
great movie in fact all three of them are, no 3 isn’t as good as 1 or 2 but they are all great
The original and the best. What set this film apart when first released is the clever concept which happened to be thought up by two prominent writers from The X Files, that death itself is the villian and how can you possibly escape him when your number is up ? After years and years of watching standard stalk and slash movies this had smart ways of dispatching characters through creating ‘accidents’ that death had come up with. Some as simple as tripping in the bathroom and others more creative such as water dripping into a computer then the exploding screen cutting a victims throat, the writers came up with some fresh and totally original death sequences that sets this film apart. The cast are a likeable group of young adults such as Devon Sawa , Kerr Smith and Sean William Scott who weren’t annoying and that makes a huge difference as so many horror movies have brainless idiot characters that deserve their fate. An original concept superbly executed make Final Destination one to watch again and again.
great movie it was orignal story
The death scenes in this movie is what made it entertaining because I frankly didn’t really like any of the characters and found myself rooting for death just to shut them up. But it was original and enjoyable for the carnage so overall not bad.
man i even watched this series backwards and the first was still amazing even after seeing the third and second, but what i said ealier stands true that these three movies depended on the deaths in them and this one was lacking compared to the other two…
Original. The film is rellay original and fresh. The concept is really intriguing and what makes the film even better is that it has some pretty cool deaths. Featuring a cast that isn’t well known, the film really delivers, and is very good at making you squirm. The films dark esscence lurks into manupulating your mind into getting frightened, which makes the whole experience alot better. Somewhat predictable in ways of who will survive, but good eitherway.
The plot was really original, and was originally planned for an X-Files episode. Glad it wasn’t one though. The concept that death has a plan, and controls everything is definately a real intriguiner to the film.
The acting was beleivable, and realistic. “Ali Larter” is the real star, she was then and still is an upcoming actress, whos ability here really shines thriugh. “Kerr Smith” is also great at his role.
Overall “Final Destination” is a great teen-oriented horro flick, that is a definate for any horror fan. My rating is 3.5/5.
seen it a couple of times and very enjoyable loved it, one of the better teen slasher movies
cool movie, and very inventive
I hate to say it, but this movie didn’t hold the test of time. I just watched it again last night. At first, I was enjoying it, laughing at the jokes, and then for some unkown reason, it started to bore me. I’ve only seen the film 4 times, but now I think it’s going into the “no longer watchable” pile.
the only great thing about the final destination series is the deaths but other than that who cares?
This movie is one of the best horror movies of the new century. This movie is original, scary and a masterpiece!!! The acting is brilliant and believable and the deaths take you by surprise and actually make you scared…This movie is really intense especially when Alex, Claire, Carter and, Billy are in the car and it’s stuck on the train tracks and they are trying to get out…this movie is great!! This movie also makes you think about how you could die as well…it makes you think anything you do could cause your death…after I watched this movie I found myself being more careful about anything I did…
Pretty cool concept. The deaths are so needlessly elaborate though. I guess if you’re death you probably want to have a little fun.
Two things: What the eff happened to Devon Sawa? and Why’d they redo the box art for this movie? The skull thing? Seriously?
great movie
I absolutely loved this movie!! It had me scared and thrilled at the same time. The acting was better than I would have expected, and the death scenes were gruesome, but not so bad that you didn’t want to finish the movie.
The gist of the movie is definately original and I have never seen anything like it. 10 star greatness!!
A great movie. Definitely original, and keeps you in the whole time. It had great deaths and pretty good acting. A pretty solid movie.
i don’t know why i hate this movie .
best out of all the final destination movies not that scary more of a thriller
Final Destination is a modern twist on classic horror. When a group of teenagers cheat death is a horrific accident, death soon comes to haunt them, taking them out one by one. I liked Final Destination. I know, sounds wierd with my rather low rating, but I enjoyed watching it. I think it’s because it was something new at the time, and now infact. But, with crummy acting, some predictable deaths, terrible camera work and un – likeable characters makes this movie a bummer. Although, I did like the death scenes. Even though there weren’t many.
5/10
Totally surprising!
Amazing ‘coincidencies’ made the plot quite beeter.
Wondering how would each death happen, expecting it by the corner, and then beeing amazed anyway, since, it’s an original worthy idea.
When this movie came out the first thing that came to mind after I saw it was it was a breath of fresh air. While I think the second one out does this one this movie definitely laid out the groundwork for the next installments. I did like this movie but really alot of the people that got killed you really didn’t care. And some of the kills were a little to laid out like the teacher’s imparticular but really I guess thats the point. Its still a good movie and sets up a solid story.
this made me think too much, and i no longer view my toothbrush or pillows as harmless. i think these movies are far fetched, but still entertaining.
The best of the Final destination movies!
The writer had one hell of a great idea that was made in one of the best movies ever!
At the time such a fresh new take for the horror genre! LOVED IT & STILL DO! Amazing cast as well! Can’t say that for the new one but this movie when it came out was absolutely mind blowing.Like nothing before! Still one of my favorites!
This movie was the first and best of its kind. As a horror/thriller/suspense fan this left me stunded. It may be just a movie but for the most part death will occur and is unstoppable. Great film
Never going on a plane!
now this is an awesome slasher film. instead of seeing a guy in a hockey mask like Jason, we have a new killer that no one can escape from no matter what they do, Death itself!
after seeing this movie, i’ve developed a fear of planes, but this movie grabbed me by the balls! working who’s the next target and figuring out how to cheat death multiple times must be hard work.
Devon Sawa and Ali Larter were awesome actors.
This was great very good!
Not the best horror but it was refreshing and differnet.
I think this is the best one because the sequels are pointless & no more story. It’s a enjoyable movie & is Sean William Scott funny in all his films?
This is the best film out the lot. All the deaths in the sequeals are rubbish because they are the same. They are always being squashed or ‘splattered’ is a better term. But this is original. Heads chopped off and people getting splatted by a bus. That is original. This is one of the best ‘you can’t cheat death’ movies. it has a supernatrual feeling to it. You never know what to suspect in this movie. A real icon of Horror. Shame the sequeals are complete bollocks.
One of my favorite films. I simply never gets old.
best in the series.
It is a really stupid idea to turn it into a series, turns out it really isnt the final destination
Differently the best one in this series.
I gotta say vest one out of the series, i wasnt really into number 2, number 3 was ok i liked the idea of a rollcoaster thing but i was not really into it, number 4 would be a close 2nd for me cause it had some good deaths in it and a good storyline and i would not mind if the made a 5th one:)
Loved itt
best of the series definatly, well worth checking out
what can i say about this movie? to me this film is a classic. its original which by todays standards is a lost trait in horror or for that matter, all cinema. The acting was actually decent and the story didnt feel rushed yet at the same time not too slow. The deaths are funny and startling (i still jump a little inside when Terri gets hit by the bus). This movie is a prime example of what horror should be like. Original, scary, and funny. My only complaint against this movie is that its not really gory. I mean the other films in the series might have gottena little too much gore into their films but if they could find an area in between too little and too much, this would have gotten a 10.
9/10
Love this movie. Watch it all the time and can’t get enough of it. When I watch one I watch them all in the same day. I can’t get enough of the bloody deaths in all the movies. If I would die it would have to be in a final destination way lol. Just kinding but it would be a cool way to go.
Eh. Final destination has a unique story I guess but I really didn’t care for this film.
First and best.
dont get me wrong this one is goood but the death scenes werent as crazy as 2 final destination but the best was at the end where the kid goes to check up on the BQ and it blows up and his arm flys up and lands on the mothers plate
Great movie
Awesome! One of the most unforgettable thrillers ever.
A solid horror movie. Nothing really special, but fun nonetheless, and with a good premise. Overall, enjoyable.
**Mini Review**
FINAL DESTINATION is a twisted creepy film that reminds you of all your fears in the world. With the young sexy Ali Larter and the american pie asshole, it’s hard NOT to enjoy this movie!
“Final Destination” is IMO the very definition of an “alltime horror movie favorite” – no matter how often I watch this modern classic (already watched it 6-7 times), it never gets old and it never fails to entertain me.
It’s tense and thrilling from the first to the last minute, including many super-suspenseful scenes and a few quite eerie moments. The script is tightly written, paced and full of brilliantly unexpected twists and turns, the whole Death-has-a-plan-story is fascinating and highly original, and James Wong’s direction is absolutely fabulous.
Kudos to the beautiful cinematography and an effective soundtrack.
Nearly all of the characters are likeable and believable, and the actors all deliver solid performances, especially Devon “Stan” Sawa, Ali Larter and Seann William Scott (amusing as always) – plus: an awesome cameo from the terrific Tony Todd!
Highlights:
– Every single death scene, especially the cruel bath strangulation, the shocking bus crash, the funny train-decapitation and (my favorite) the uber-amazing kitchen scene.
– The cool-looking opening credits which foreshadow all the deaths.
– The stunning opening scene with the infamous plane crash and all the mysterious hints (number 180, John Denver, etc.)
– The outstandingly suspenseful and action-packed ‘electric’ climax and the completely unpredictable ending twist.
Top notch horror entertainment and surely one of the most original horror flicks from the noughties!
I remember seeing this in the theatre and absolutely loving it. I recently re-watched it, and it still holds up incredibly well. It doesn’t have the over-the-top gore of later installments, but the deaths are great. This is definitely the best acted and most cleverly written of the series. Excellent film!
Final Destination is a brilliant movie that started a brilliant movie franchise. This movie is really entertaining with fantastic gore, good acting, and a great plot.
I love this series. And this is the best one so far.
Strangely enticing. It’s a fun death-flick.
Final destination is a great movie with an orignal concept.Notice I said movie and not movies?
WARNING: SPOILER ALERT. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this movie, and in fact the whole series, but there is one death in this movie that I have just never been able to get past: the strangulation in the bathroom. The reason I like this genre so much is that it gives us a certain REALISM…there is no hockey masked manic, there is no slobbering creature. To be honest, most if not all of the deaths that occur in these movies are due to simply not being aware of your surroundings and pure stupidity, but they have a feeling of being REAL, something that could actually happen. This is why I must call foul on the strangulation scene mentioned earlier. The liquid seeping from the toliet, causing him to slip, I just couldn’t get my mind around it. There was no REASON for the liquid to be there, and once the character was dead, the liquid seeped back into the toliet, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth. I feel they could have come up with something a lot more believable. With that rant out of the way, the rest of the film has nothing but my praise, its a tension-filled fun ride that will surely teach you to pay more attention to your surroundings. Anyone who has not seen it should surely pick up a copy, and remember, Death doesn’t like to be cheated.
An idea that hadn’t been done at the time. Whoever came up with this idea can really think outside the box. Final Destination, a film about a kid who foresees a disaster, and gets some of his friends off the plane, only to have them die in the order they were meant to.
I adore, adore, adore, this movie! It is so good! Everyone should see this movie.
