[Good Scenes In Bad Movies] ‘Darkness Falls’ Edition!

I’ve never seen Darkness Falls. Once again this was before my time at Bloody-Disgusting and it never seemed like an important enough piece of horror history to bother catching up with. But maybe I’m wrong! But The Wolfman did see it, and while he didn’t love the movie – he found at least one scene worth writing about. Sometimes finding a saving grace in a film comes down to finding just one scene that really hits it out of the park. SD Comic-Con ’10: Michelle Rodriguez, Aaron Eckhart Featured in First ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Stills

After premiering at the San Diego Comic-Con, C0lumbia Pictures provided us with the first hi-res imagery from Jonathan Liebesman’s (Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning, Darkness Falls) Battle: Los Angeles. In theaters March 11, the thriller revolves around a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon’s battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles. Rodriguez will play Crpl. Adriana Santos, a member of a radio battalion. Pena plays the father of a boy the Marines find along the way, and Moynahan plays a veterinarian. (more…) READ MORE

Update: ‘Texas Chainsaw’ Director Thanks the Gods for Possible ‘Clash’ Directing Gig

Update: Dan Mazeau, who worked for Warners on “The Flash”, is being paired with David Leslie Johnson, writer of “The Girl with the Red Riding Hood,” the studio’s horror thriller starring Amanda Seyfried that is in pre-production, to write “Clash of the Titans 2.”” With the fake 3-D remake of Clash of the Titans nearing $500 million worldwide at the box office, Warner Bros. Pictures is fast-tracking a sequel with plans on shooting as early at January, reports the LA Times. It was already revealed that Louis Leterrier would not be returning to the director’s chair (thank the Gods (pun intended)), not the LA Times is writing that the frontrunner replacement is none other than Jonathan Liebesman, the man behind Darkness Falls, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and the forthcoming Battle: Los Angeles. Shooting in early 2011 is also a priority because the studio needs to make sure star Sam Worthington, who is committed to shoot Avatar 2 (likely later in the year), is free and clear. Ray Winstone’s Head Floats in ‘Red Snow’ Teaser Poster

Ok this one is a bit weird. We caught wind of an official website for a new horror film entitled Red Snow, which is to be directed by Stuart St Paul. The site also writes that the feature, which will star Ray Winstone (The Devil’s Tomb, Darkness Falls), is based on a short film by Adam Mason. This must be a different Adam Mason than the one who directed Blood Rover, The Devil’s Chair and Broken as he has no clue anything about this film. The Test Begins in ‘The Killing Room’ Trailer, DVD Cover Art

Update: Genius Products will release the film on DVD October 13, check out the art inside. Still looking for a distributor after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this past January is Jonathan Liebesman’s (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Darkness Falls) thriller The Killing Room (review), a pretty solid mystery that follows four individuals sign up for a psychological research study only to discover that they are now subjects of a brutal, classified government program. Arquette’s ‘Trip’ Gets Major Cast, Shoots This Month

Courtney Cox, Jamie King,Thomas Jane, Lukas Haas, Jason Mewes will join Balthazar Getty and Paul Reubens in Voltage Pictures’ The Tripper, which will be directed by David Arquette, who will also cameo in the pic, according to Variety. Announced last week, the film revolves around a group of friends who escape to a modern-day Woodstock concert for a weekend of debauchery, only to be stalked by a fanatical killer determined to finish what he started years earlier.
