It starts off really well. A great beginning, it introduces the ghostly thing really well. But then i lost interest and thought ‘what happened’. It’s a good idea but it isn’t interesting enough. I don’t eve remember the rest of the film except the beginning. I was disapointed, i thought it had a lot going for it.
I enjoyed it. Who’s not a little afraid of the dark. I liked the concept, and the witch was a little scary. Not the movie to make you want to watch it again as soon as it was over, but entertaining no the less.
Umm ok i enjoyed watching this movie even though i felt they could have done a better job. It was ok.
Tooth fairy stories are dumb in the first place let alone as horror stories. Throw more crap into the factory and get in even bigger crap factory. Met the guy who did the titling for the film…Huge douchebag.
It was pretty good for a pg-13 horror flick. Pretty scary too.
i rate this movie a 8 because it was real;ly scary…well sorta
It had the potential, yet… i dont know. It was interesting to watch as they could only be in the light. I thought that was a pretty interesting idea and could have made for an even better film, but they didnt do a lot of what they could have. Also, they should have gotten rid of her being the tooth fairy. Leaving her as a witch or something else would have been a lot better, but every time I see her, I just think about it being stupid.
This movie use to scare the living sh*t out of me. Like literally I was to scared to watch it. But not really a great movie. Just freakign creepy.
This has to be one of the dumbest piles of shit I have seen. The tooth fairy? Come on. Please, do not allow these film makers to ruin the evening for us again.
Pretty pedestrian, but with a great beginning. I did enjoy it. The over-CGI’d ending is laughable, although I don’t think they could’ve achieved that any better with practical effects.
Crap.
This is one of those movies that i could watch over and over, but everyone else hates. its a stupid movie and really cheesy, but i like it for some wierd reason.
Bloody awful. I’d rather watch The Ring 2 or The Grudge 3 than this piece of garbage. This movie is about as dumb as they come.
loved it, loved it, and loved it!!! opening scene is amazing, and only bad part is when they reveal the tooth fairy but i forgive them for thier grave mistake…
This movie was ok, better than I expected, but not amazing. Although the first 15 minutes of the movie were fucking great, it just lost its steam throughout the film.
A nice little creep of a film. Loved the ghost and the soundtrack and the effect were pretty neat. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it movie, I guess.
A very interesting premise. I thought it really wasnt that bad. Very creepy at times and I will say when I first watched this it did kinda creep me out so I kinda liked it. Cool ghost by the way.
The film is ok to watch but I couldn’t watch it all the time, the opening of the film is great though.
Oh. My. God…
-that is all-
While seeing this in the theaters, I loved this movie, it was energetic and creepy and a blast to watch. Upon seeing it a couple more times over the years on DVD, the reality sets in that this movie is REALLY BAD! Not only is it almost identical to the movie They, the ghost story of Darkness Falls is complete nonsense! How does a ghost die from over exposure to light?!? How does a ghost “die” period?!? I do give props for the intro scene though…it maintains it’s creepiness. I also didn’t like how they went the cheap route with the “tooth fairy’s” look. To see her pre-production design, go look up the Tooth Fairy from the Movie Maniacs toy line. It really would have made this movie stand out a little more.
Cool ghost, very bad laughable joke of a movie.
I loved the movie it was a low buget movie with not very big actors which I liked. The movie kept me interested all the way to the end. Not scarey but entertaining never the less good movie not following the crowd on this one, Actually I never do this movie was great. You thought this was boaring go watch 2012 that totally sucked.
Entertaining film. for some reason I like this film more than I should.
I was apprehensive when I first saw this on netflix. The plot sounded lame, it was PG-13, it didn’t look like anything special. Fast Forward to the 2003 Retrospect, where it is torn apart for being a terrible film, naturally I investigated and rented it and gave it a shot. It wasn’t that bad. So I came online to check its review and I couldn’t help but wonder… Must every bloody-disgusting review mention The ring? I mean really that movie sucked, comparing it to every movie on the face of the Earth is stupid. Darkness Falls was interesting and suspenseful. The Tooth Fairy design wasn’t that terrible, in fact, I’m glad they didn’t ruin in by having her look like the Tooth Fairy at the end, the entire movie. Sure it would have been better if she had been kept in the dark but it was still pretty creepy and doesn’t really detract from your enjoyment. I rented this due to the morbid curiosity of everyone hating it (Or so I thought). I just want to say it’s not that bad.
I first saw this film at 12, so yeah…I was scared shitless. But now, looking back, its lost its effect as a horror movie, but still one of my favorites to watch.
The story was pretty interesting, I liked that it put a scary twist on a common children’s story. The acting leaves much to be desired, and after Buffy, its hard to take Emma Caulfield seriously.
Should’ve went straight to video. Horrible idea and horrible acting. I thought Leprechaun in the hood was better than this.
The thing about this movie is that the plot is so amazing and clever, it makes you think of how the story of the tooth fairy really orginiated. However, the movie itself does not do the plot justice in the least. It is fun to watch, yes, but it’s nothing more than startling moments. With a plot as great as this, I felt it should’ve been more detailed and had more time spent on it to perfect it. Disappointing, honestly, but regardless it’s not a total waste of time.
So bad it isn’t funny
I watched this when I was 11 years old and it scared the hell out of me. I was afraid of the dark and heaps of other wierd things.
Now it doesnt have much effect,Nor do many other horror movies.
Still I’d give this a 6-10. Worth a watch definitly.
I liked this film pretty well. Worth a watch.
I found this to be very interesting. It offers some good scares and the story is pretty entertaining. The opening to film is perfect.
I really like this film, like the premise. Scary in bits, good overall.
Why, oh why do I love this film so much? Cause it’s freakin’ hilarious!!!! (
Given the only scary part could be in the first 10 minutes of the film, but all in all, it’s rather successful at holding my attention for an hour or so. It also seems to have taken a cue from ‘The Ring’ in the, “Let’s hire a creepy kid that’s scarier than the thing trying to kill him.” department.
No it’s not the “BOO! Are you scared now? … How ’bout now?” type horror film, but c’mon
it’s fun.
Long before director Liebesman created some awesome shockers (“TCM: The Beginning”, “The Killing Room”) and even longer before he destroyed modern action cinema (“Battle L.A.”),
he kicked off his career with this lame horror flick about the evil Tooth Fairy.
There are 2 really terrific scenes: the impressive opening including a really cool intro and a few heart-stopping moments, and the action-packed climax in the lighthouse.
The soundtrack is pretty rousing, most of the settings look pretty neat, it’s beautifully filmed and the Tooth Fairy itself was very well designed.
Unfortunately, everything else pretty much sucks.
The plot is quite silly, the predictable and largely unsuspenseful script was badly written; hardly any tension or atmosphere in here. Many scenes that try to be scary, aren’t scary at all. Many scenes that try to be tense, are just tediously boring
Nearly every adult character is annoying and the acting is extremely dull (most notably Emma Caulfield and Chaney Kley).
Furthermore, the kills are all completely disappointing and many of the CGI effects look just awful.
Recommended only to people who ‘enjoyed’ stuff like “The Haunting (1999)”.
kudos to this film for actually using a different character and doing something a little bit original (even if it does happen to be an evil tooth fairy!) even the look of the film is quite appealing, but when watching the film, you cant help but feel its really lacking something. the beggining is perfect but the rest of the film drags a little. still entertaing and still worth a watch.
I know I probably shouldn’t like this movie as much as I do, but all gods help me, I really do adore it. While not exactly scary, and while some scenes with the monster are downright silly, the mood of the movie is fun, and the idea of an evil tooth fairy is fantastic. And you gotta like the sensible solution to not getting eaten by a monster that sticks to the darkness: stay in the goddamn light.
sucked when I saw it in theaters, still sucks now.
Due to some of the poor reviews, I avoided this film since it’s release 8 years ago. Just recently, I finally decided to give it a look and I really liked it! I enjoyed the way the took something as harmless as the good ol’ tooth fairy and turned her into something sinister — not a far stretch if you bother to think about it for a moment! It’s a shame that movies which do not aim to emotionally pulverize and shatter their audience are given short shrift these days. This was a great old skool spooky movie and those who give it a chance may find that the poor reviews were unwarranted.
I love this movie, it never gets old to me.
It’s good. Its a fun PG-13 urban legend story. Not to mention the “Tooth Fairy” was created by Stan Winston (r.i.p) so you know it will look amazing. I love how its done. Its a hauntingly beautiful and terrifying ghost. Covered in black with a white porselin mask.
