Wrong turn got seriously overshadowed by Cabin Fever, and I really don’t get why. So much gore and so much fun, I just wish it got the attention it really deserved.

I’ll never understand people who liked this film. This was a half-assed remake of ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ before the half-assed remake of ‘The Hills Have Eyes’. Our villains here are a bunch of mutant cannibal muppets straight out of the worst-conceived F/X department in Hollywoodland. Not a single likeable character. Devoid of any real scares/tension/plot. I couldn’t wait for this one to end, which inevitably meant the movie dragged on forever. Christ, this was a bad movie. Eliza Dushku looks like she has Down’s Syndrome.

Completely great. Acting, gore, direction and creature make-up are top notch. This movie does not get as much recognition as it deserves, and is easily one of the best horror flicks to come out of the post-Scream era.

Pretty good. To be honest, I only watched it for my favorite actress, Eliza Dushku, but the movie turned out to be pretty good, not the best, but not the worst either.

This was nothing more than homage to cheese-horror films of the 60′s and 70′s. On a light note, it makes horror really fun and pretty much family-friendly. (There is no more blood in this movie than Lord of the Rings.) On a more harsh note, it’s also the reason so many people think horror is a unintelligent cheesetastic genre when what we need is more true horror, punk-gore, original works over another movie that takes The Hills Have Eyes and makes it cute and trite.

I guess this is the sort of movie that you could watch with some friends and smile at the kills. If you’re looking for anything deeper than that, look elsewhere. For a more original and mature movie that follows this fun formula without stepping into the cute territory, check out Wolf Creek.

I understand the well-scored reviews. They’re right. But DO NOT expect a gory mature movie like I did. It’s best just to wait for this to play on TV around Halloween and watch it with your kids.

Wasnt expecting much from this movie and it turned out to be very good. I was cheering for the people to live. I loved the part where the cannibals trapped the 3 survivors in a watchtower and set it on fire and they had to jump out the window and land on the trees. that would have terrified me to death if that had happened to me. This movie had a very good story, good actors and left me cheering for more. so i am off to rent the sequel.

Stupid stupid characters… They don’t make a single intelligent decision in the course of the entire movie, making it impossible to care when they die. I thought this movie was garbage… Check out Wrong Turn 2 instead.

similar to delieverance and the hills have eyes, wrong turn brings back the mutant hillbilly killer sub genre which was empty for a while, this film isnt that original, but it was fun to watch as a horror film, stan winston produced this film which could have added to the quality of the overall product it ended up being. gruesome deaths and some intense moments make the film definatly worth watching at least once

This movie WORKS on many levels. Good actors, a solid storyline that doesn’t drag, great make-up and visual affects, and fast paced directing make this movie a must see for the serious horror fan. Wrong Turn is a great throwback to the classic horror movies of the 70′s and 80′s, with the an excellent production budget which a lot of the older classics simply could not afford to have.

Wrong Turn did not disappoint this reviewer, and I really think it’s too easy to compare this movie to “Deliverance”, as other reviewers have. Regardless, I would rather watch these guys chase Eliza Dushku through the woods and up the trees any day than to watch Ned Beatty squeal like a pig! :-) Wrong turn is a truly scary and very creepy horror film. I get the “willies” every time I watch it! You really want these characters to make it out alive. Dushku is fantastic in her role as the strong female survivor. She plays it with everything she’s got and it shows! The scene in which she is taken back to the cabin and tied to the bed…..well, it’s a great piece of acting just as good as any of our beloved scream queens from years past.

The rest of the cast also delivers consistently throughout the film. All in all this is a great film and a class apart from what has been released to us horror fans in the last few years. I enjoyed it tremendously, and would recommend this movie to anyone who is a horror film fan!!

I seen this when it first came out in the theater and really enjoyed it. Just picked up the DVD on Sunday at BestBuy for $7.99 and also Wrong Turn 2: Dead End for $9.99! Pretty good deal for brand new disc’s. Not the greatest film ever, but very enjoyable to watch. Wrong Turn 2 is very good also for being a direct to DVD film, great follow up to the original.

I rented this movie with absolutely no prior knowledge of it’s existence, what the plot was, who was starring in it…nothing. In hindsight, having no expectations was the best way to see this film. A genuine throwback to old-school horror, and the half-retarded hillbilly/cannibal sub-genre, Wrong Turn surprised me with the violence and gore.

Finding out later that Stan Winston produced it made sense to me because the antagonists’ makeup was very effective…..as well as the bloody limbs. I loved this movie and told my friend all about it. He watched it for himself and hated it. The point is I think this movie plays better for the ill-prepared viewer. It is still one of my favorite horror films of the last 10 years…and it’s not a remake.

This movie is kickass! Group of people have a car crash, they are hunted down by hillbillies and killed off one by one. Simple storyline, great execution and serves up some wicked entertainment. The acting was really, really good some of the best actors I have seen in a horror movie. The emotions that the actors displayed felt real and their different reactions to certain situations was realistic. This movie was probably one of the most tense and edge of your seat movies I have seen in a long, long time. The atmosphere was great and the hillbillies looked as creepy as fuck. There was lots of gory deaths in this movie which I was expecting when I read the storyline. The scene where the girl is in the treetops and she gets an axe in the mouth looked awesome. The makeup done on the hillbillies was just brilliant and very proffesional. I was freaking out and shitting myself when the hillbillies lit the treehouse watch post on fire that the people were hiding in. The ending was awesome it was the icing on the hugely awesome horror cake. Overall this movie was fucking awesome! One of my favourite hillbilly movies next to the hills have eyes which was also a bloody awesome thrill ride. I give wrong turn a well deserving 10/10

A friend recommended this one to me. I really enjoyed it. It definately has the old-school vibe of 70′s/ 80′s horror. It’s simplicity is the key in my opinion. Anything Stan Winston is pure gold (RIP). Spielberg said it best, “often the best ideas are the simplest ones”. Not to mention that Emanuelle Chriqui is hotter than the planet Mustafar!!!

West Virginia and camping. Not a very good mix. And it was proven. This film was demented and disturbing from the beginning all the way to the end. Many people I know look at the cover, look at Eliza Dushku, and just immediately knock the film. Well, they are missing out because this film was maniaclly fun as hell. I especially loved the scene in the watchtower and the trees because that is where the best action is at. I would definitely recommend this movie for a The Hills Have Eyes fan who has not seen this film.

This not the greatest movie of all time, but I watched it last night for the first time in years. I’ve been on a Dollhouse kick and apparently didn’t have my Eliza fix done yet.

I think the movie got unfairly knocked by a lot of people. It’s a straight homage to 70s horror. At the time it came out it was the height of the “ironic” horror movie a la Scream so it was refreshing to get a straight horror movie. Which is what this is.

It’s a simple straightforward plot about backwoods psychotics. Okay, I don’t think that’s bad. Characters are cliche, well, yea but who cares? Who watches a movie like this for character development? Most of us watch it for good kills and hot chicks running (in the case in the woods). Nothing wrong with that. Just don’t expect it to be more than it is.

It’s an entertaining way to spend two hours when you don’t want to think. That’s not a bad thing in the slightest.

One of my favorite slasher’s with a simple story line but awesome character development! Especially with the four leads. You learn a lot about them which is unusal in this slasher series. But you end up caring for them and wether they live or die.Unfortunately two that stole the show do get it.And its almost sad! Eliza as always is great as the heroin and sexy as hell! The killer’s are great looking.Better than hills have eyes mutants to me.All in all a great fun slasher flick from beginning to end! With loads of thrills!

Even though we’ve seen this kind of thing a million times before this is still a fun and nasty film thanks to the 3 talented leads, horrifying villians and disgusting very well thought out kills. The plot is simple but it’s all played effectively and it doesn’t waste any time jumping into the action. Good make up effects, blood, gore and a cast who can actually act make this 70′s throw back a winner.

I really don’t see what the mass appeal is with this film. It’s not gory, it’s not suspenseful and it hardly qualifies as thrilling.

It’s pretty streamlined as far as Hollywood horror films are concerned. No surprises, no twists. Just familiar territory. The movie treads lightly on a safe path.

Wrong Turn is a modern horror, that has a hint of classic in it’s name. It’s a basic, American slash and hack movie, but is actually enjoyable. Wrong Turn doesn’t try enough to make us want more, though. The horror is there, but what is of it isn’t really scary at all. I admit, the gore in the movie is pretty cool, but there isn’t enough to keep this movie up there with movies like The Hills Have Eyes and The Texas Chainsaw Massacure. But the acting, especially from the main characters, are really top notch. The thing is, there is nothing here tat a horrror hasn’t done before. Man runs in forest, killers kill him. Woman and other man hide, they try to kill them. It’s a reapitive process, but still doesn’t make you board or tired, because it has that constant pace of action.

Wrong Turn is worth a watch, but don’t expect a great movie here. It has it’s moments, and some of the gore is great, but nothing here is worth buying.

    6/10

The death scenes are great and the acting is super!!! I think that this is better then the Hills Have Eyes which is in a way the same. They are Deformed Maniacs. There are Inoccent people. Wrong Turn is set in woods. So what??? It’s a good Horror film. And Wrong Turn 2 is just as good!!!

Well…it seems that new horror image is grossly disfigured people now. Not saying this was bad, but it has its setbacks.

This film is almost like “The Hills Have Eyes”, but in the woods.
Mainly based on gore, not pop-out scares. Which this could have done.

An obvious rip off of The Hills Have Eyes, They simply put it in a different setting. With that being said:

I enjoyed Wrong Turn. The kills were good, It kept you on the edge of your seat, and most importantly – It keep you wanting more, Even after it ended. The acting was ok but none of the cast members really sold their roles that well.

I give Wrong Turn a 7 out of 10. It was an enjoyable horror film that I am sure a lot of people would like.

As a film that includes cannibalistic hillbilly psychopaths as one of its major pleasures, “Wrong Turn” is one of those many movies that just-plain reminds you of “Deliverance” from the minute it starts to the minute it ends. I’d even say it’s a knock-off of “Deliverance” all-together; but at that, it’s a self-aware “Deliverance” knock-off, and we don’t get many of those.

Director Rob Schmidt tries his best to make the film interesting, and it has its moments, but overall, I just didn’t find it to be as entertaining as I would have liked. Those who enjoy slasher films with just a touch of satire thrown in will have a blast; but those, like me, who can’t stand formulaic films – for the most part -, will be bored for most of the time. This is a shame, because there was a part of me that really wanted to like the flick; it was recommended to me by a good friend of mine, and I respect those who enjoyed it. But for me, it rang almost completely hollow.

I don’t feel like naming the characters – because they’re practically lacking in identity – and I feel as if more time went into the setting and villains, so I shall only describe those in considerable detail. The set-up for the film is that four young men and women (two per sex) are stranded in the Wes Virginia woods and happen upon a family of violent, inbred cannibals. We learn through newspaper clippings which show up in the opening credits that the area is known for such people being its only likely inhabitants.

Perhaps Schmidt’s greatest achievement, with this film, is his keen eye for locations. The film is well-filmed in an interesting area; I assume that the filmmaker – who made his debut with this film – spent some good time in the woods to do proper research for this film; but what he didn’t do was take into consideration what makes good horror-satire so effective. His film never makes a solid attempt at crossing the line between genuine, serious horror and wicked humor. In short, it’s uninteresting because it doesn’t take risks; and for me, it just lacked imagination.

However, if you’re a gore-hound; this one is most definitely for you. The gore effects here are actually pretty impressive for the most part; in some instances, such as when a police officer gets an arrow to the face, the gore almost looks like the creation of CG effects; and if this is the case, then I can’t say I admired much about the scene. I am not inspired by gore if it’s made by computers; that is why I enjoy classic gore pictures such as “Zombi 2″ and “The Beyond”. The blood-and-gore effects are man-made.

One thing that I liked about the film was the fact that, unlike so many slasher pictures, not all the characters are stupid. A lot of them are – to the point where they’re even annoying – but most of the truly “bad” characters are killed off early and therefore we don’t have to trudge through their collective muck. The characters that are actually somewhat well-fleshed-out are also well-portrayed; the acting is rock solid, especially for a slasher film, and there’s even a small sense of devotion from both ends of the camera. Yes, the movie doesn’t work, and I was never involved, but for a movie of its (sub) genre, it isn’t all that bad.

Otherwise, you’ve got yourself a decent little cannibal-vs.-man flick. I was entertained – but not for long periods of time – and I was also intrigued – just not too much. “Wrong Turn” is without a doubt better than a lot of the films similar to it; but also kind of worse than a few. I can’t compare it to “Deliverance” because that’s just unfair; but let’s just say if you found that film lacking in depth or admiration for human nature, then you’ll truly detest this one.

The original Wrong Turn that starts first before we go to the later on Direct to DVD Bloodbath sequels to this film. I did enjoy the first Wrong Turn it is mainly the best in the series since Wrong Turn 2 and 4 so far. I did enjoy this movie and it was fantastic and really suspenceful as well. There are so many good things about the original Wrong Turn. Since the movie is full of suspenceful scenes with a really intense climax towards the entire film along with a fast pacing story instead of a slow pacing story the movie has a really incredible plot about a group of people getting attacked by a bunch of deranged Hillbilly Cannibals it’s like The Hills Have Eyes only that the setting takes place in the woods instead of the desert and all of the Cannibals are frightening and freaky looking at the same time. This movie also has some great kills but they are not as graphic and gory as the later on sequels and all of the kills here are really suspenceful and intense at the same time because the first Wrong Turn focus more on suspense rather than gory and graphic kills like the later on Direct to DVD sequels so far. The kills in this film are just simple we got people of course getting killed with pointy arrows through the back while the rest were off screen(There are three kills that will freak you out though towards the entire movie there’s the arrow to the eye which is probably the best kill in Horror movie history. Then we got someone getting garroted with barb wire through the mouth which will leave you disturbed towards the entire film and we got the axe straight through the mouth which is probably the most insane kill in a horror movie). Now the acting is great all the casts in the film including Eliza Dushku did a good job with their performances so far in the film. While Jeremy Sisto and Desmond Harrington did a good job as well with their performances in the film as well. Overall the original Wrong Turn gets a 10/10.
    Best Wrong Turn films:
    1) Wrong Turn
    2) Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
    3) Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings
    4) Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead

“Wrong Turn” is an ok little backwoods slasher in the vein of stuff like “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “The Hills Have Eyes”. No more, no less.

The acting is pretty good (Jeremy Sisto, Eliza Dushku) and the characters are all believable. The camera work is brilliant and the rousing score kicks ass. There’s some really nice gory violence (arrow through eye, head chopped in half), a few highly suspenseful scenes (the opening and the watch tower-scene) and our 3 villains (Saw-Tooth, Three Finger & One-Eye) are just plain cool.

However, there are also many boring and tedious scenes (especially in the first and in the last third), parts of the dialogue are quite annoying, the romantic sub-plot is rather pointless and the unspectacular and predictable ending is just disappointing.

Overall, a nice horror flick, but no must-see and nothing special.

Utter garbage! Other reviews praise the story. What story? Characters get chased, they escape, some die, they get chased again, escape again, more deaths… It’s the same scenario until the end. When the guy disappears from the car accident, the girl goes to look for him. She sees his shoes then is attacked. These kinds of setups have been done a thousand times before. There’s nothing original here. I spent most of the movie on fast forward.

Official Score: 4 / 5
