Feels like it was cut a little short, this could have had more plot and interesting elements to it, but it settles for a more simpler story

I liked this movie, but the critics seemed to mostly disagree with me. The tripods were way cool.

Awesome remake to the original. Not really a horror movie at all but still a badass alien movie.

This was a great film. Huge scary fuck off tripods hellbent on anhiliation and nothing else. The scene when the first tripod erupts from the earth was waaaaaaaay cool . Pity it was let down by a sudden ending. Hell , even Tom ‘maniac’ Cruise was decent in this.

I can’t be bothered to got into a full detailed review of this movie so I’m going to make it short and sweet. The storyline was awesome, aliens in tripods craving the destruction of earth. It was good how they were buried under the ground instead of coming from the sky or giant star trek space ships. The acting was suprisingly good, I am not a fan of tom cruise though. The dialogue was good I didn’t have a problem with it. The cgi was AWESOME! extremely realistic and deserves points for not having shock value gore. The action wasn’t bad there could have been way more. It got extremely dull and boring at times. The ending was a piece of shit and unexpected. Cut the boring, pointless dialogue filled scenes and get on with the action. This movie should have been a land mark sci-fi epic but it passed off as just fairly good. Overall I give war of the worlds remake a 7/10.

I loved this movie and I’m not a usual tom cruise fan but I couldn’t actually believe how good it was. I love that different kind of fear that alien movies give you, and I think this did it

The thing that I loved most about this movie is that it really established the sheer dread of the end of the world. Also, I dont really like tom cruise but he was very good in this movie.

far better than it has any right to be. But not a perfect film. It has some thrills and it’s really well executed. And some really good performances.

Thought it was great at for about the first hour. It manages to start off with great intensity and keeps it going for quite a while. That is until they meet up with Tim Robbins’s characters. It just goes downhill from there; suddenly feels like Spielberg is dying to relive his Jurassic Park glory.

Hell, they even rip off the velociraptors in the kitchen scene. Except now it’s in a cellar with alien surveillance tentacle things. When you think about it, how insanely unrealistic is that? Would the aliens seriously bother searching every nook and cranny of every building like that?

At least they kept the original ending, but I could’ve done without the predictable Disney catharsis that preceded it.

Spielberg as usual delivers some cool effects, some great visuals, and good actors acting. The only problem with this was the change in storyline. They aliens buried this stuff in the earth a long time ago? Really? That’s just dumb. And they could have also left out the troubled family drama scenes which really only served to fracture the main story and slow it down.

I love this movie, Steven Spielberg is truly a film genius. I don’t know why people are always talking shit about this movie. Good acting, very good effects, and the beginning of the invasion was just kick ass imo. Probably my favorite “alien invasion” movie besides ID4. Definitely worth a watch.

I must admit that this movie is entertaining all the way, and I probably would have put a better rating if not for the terrible end they decided to put. The ending is so pathetic that almost ruined the movie completely.
After show time and again that there was no place to escape, Tom’s character comes to the neighborhood of his ex-wife and everything seems normal and quiet, it seems that the aliens did not like this neighborhood. And happy ending.

visually, this film is brilliant and the story is very entertaing. the only thing that spoils this film is tom cruise!! im not a massive fan of him and i feel like he completely overacts in this film which spoils the flow of it. bar that, pretty amazing!

From the official BD Review: “I’ll say this: I can’t remember being as flat-out scared in a movie theatre auditorium as I was when watching Steven Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds”.

I admit the movie is filled with suspense and tense moments but give me a break this movie is not scary lol.

Great Sci-Fi movie! The ending came too soon…like it was a bullet to the face. But other than that, Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning did an awesome job acting. I plan on watching the original which I haven’t seen in some time..

really well done sequel. Sure, the special effects were totally Hollywood-ish, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Official Score: 3.5 / 5
