Move Into Uni’s ‘Dream House’ This January

Dream House (review) is the tale of Will Atenton (Daniel Craig; Cowboys & Aliens, Quantum of Solace), a high-profile, Manhattan publisher who leaves the big city behind to relocate his wife Libby (Rachel Weisz; The Constant Gardener, The Lovely Bones) and their two daughters to a quaint New England town. As the family settles into their new lives they learn that their beloved dream home has a history of murder. When Will dares to delve further into the mysteries of the house, he is not sure if he is seeing ghosts or if the tragic events are somehow related to his past. The only clues come from his cryptic neighbor, Ann (Naomi Watts, The Ring, J. Edgar), who helps him piece together this haunting puzzle. Also featuring Marton Csokas (Alice in Wonderland), Elias Koteas (The Fourth Kind) and Jane Alexander (The Unborn), Dream House is available on Blu-ray Combo Pack with UltraViolet, DVD, Digital Download and On Demand January 31, 2012 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Morgan Creek Films. [Review] ‘Dream House’ Is a ’90s Mix Tape of Twists

Now in theaters everywhere from Universal Pictures is Dream House, which was not screened for critics. Hitting up a midnight screening, I’m disappointed to report that Jim Sheridan’s supernatural thriller is nothing more than a mixtape of ’90s twist endings without any punch. READ MORE

Will Universal’s ‘Dream Home’ Ever Open?

Universal won’t open Jim Sheridan’s thriller Dream House, toplining Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts, on February 18 after all. Variety reports that Morgan Creek Prods., which financed and produced the film, needs to shoot additional footage. Craig, however, isn’t available until the first two weeks of December, when there’s a break in filming on David Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. That doesn’t leave enough time for Dream House to meet its Feb. 18 date. Morgan Creek and U are still eyeing a 2011 release, and a new date is being worked out. Penned by David Loucka, Dream House tells the story of a successful New York publisher (Craig) who moves his wife (Weisz) and children to a New England town, where they buy the home of their dreams. But the dream is shattered when they learn that the previous tenants were murdered. The husband teams with a neighbor (Watts) to learn the truth about the crime. (more…) READ MORE

Latest to Move Into Universal’s ‘Dream House’

It’s quickly becoming a full house for Universal Pictures’ thriller Dream House as Rachel Fox (pictured below; “Desperate Housewives”) is set co-star in Jim Sheridan’s flick that follows a writer and his family who have recently moved into a house and soon find out it was the site of a recent murder and that the killer may still be at large. She stars alongside Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. Personally, I hope this film heads in a supernatural direction as the idea of another home invasion plot has my stomach churning (why not make it an exorcism movie? Joking…). I guess Universal was happy with the return on The Last House on the Left. (more…) READ MORE

Rachel Weisz Fills Uni’s ‘Dream House’ Cast

Morgan Creek’s Dream House isn’t going to be able to contain all these egos. The production company has added Rachel Weisz (The Lovely Bones, The Mummy) to the cast alongside Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, The Invasion) and Naomi Watts (The Ring, King Kong) in the thriller Universal Pictures will distribute. Jim Sheridan is directing from a David Loucka script. The story centers on a successful publisher (Craig) who quits his Gotham job and relocates his wife (Weisz) and two daughters to a quaint New England town, only to discover that their perfect new home was the murder scene of a mother and her two children. Watts will play a neighbor who was close to the slain family. Lensing began Sunday in Toronto. (more…) READ MORE

Naomi Watts Takes Residence in Murdered Family’s ‘Dream House’

Naomi Watts (The Ring, King Kong) will star opposite Daniel Craig in Dream House, a thriller Jim Sheridan is directing for Morgan Creek. Universal is distributing in North America. The project, picked up as a spec by David Loucka, follows a family that relocates into what appears to be the ideal residence in small town Connecticut. However, the husband (Craig) and wife (Watts) are disturbed to discover that their beautiful new home was the site of another family’s slaughter, believed to be at the hands of the husband who survived. Production is slated to begin February in Toronto. (more…) READ MORE

I Shudder at the Thought of THIS ‘Videodrome’ Remake

I’m all for remakes, I really am, but if you’re going to do it, can you at least take it seriously? While Ehren Kruger stumbled his way into the writing job of The Ring remake (a film turned into a gem by director Gore Verbinski) and slightly entertained me with The Skeleton Key, his credentials don’t make me smile, especially after the painstaking garbage that was Blood and Chocolate (oh jeez, don’t remind me). Now the genre vet is putting his fingers all over one of my all-time favorite movies, David Cronenberg’s Videodrome. I won’t be eating that anymore. (more…) READ MORE

Morgan Creek’s ‘Dream House’ Finally Erected

New details were released this evening for the Morgan Creek produced thriller Dream House, which is reportedly greenlit after sitting on the shelf for over three years(!). The Sheridan-helmed psychological thriller is about a family that moves to a small town in Connecticut and learns that a mother and her two young children had been killed in their home. The killings were believed to be at the hands of the husband, who survived and may now be a threat to the new residents. Jim Sheridan replaces Erik Van Looy behind the camera. David Loucka penned the screenplay, and Robinson is producing alongside Daniel Bobker and Ehren Kruger. (more…) READ MORE
